CHICAGO -- Michael Jordan and his wife, Juanita, filed for divorce Friday after 17 years of marriage.

"Michael and Juanita Jordan mutually and amicably decided to end their 17-year marriage," the couple said in a statement issued through their lawyers. "A judgment for dissolution of their marriage was entered today. There will be no further statements."

Michael Jordan's lawyer, Frederick J. Sperling, declined to comment.

But in court documents filed Friday with the Lake County Circuit Court, the couple said "irreconcilable differences have caused an irretrievable breakdown of the marriage." The couple said attempts to reconcile their marriage had failed and future ones "would be impractical and not in the best interests of the family."

Juanita Jordan previously filed for divorce in January 2002 but withdrew her petition a month later when the couple announced they were attempting a reconciliation.

The couple met at a Chicago restaurant during his second season with the Bulls and were married Sept. 2, 1989, in Las Vegas. They have three children: Jeffrey, 18, Marcus, 16, and Jasmine, 14.

Michael Jordan, 43, lives in Chicago; Juanita Jordan, 47, lives in Highland Park, Ill.

The Jordans, who have lived separately since February, will share custody of their children, according to court documents.

"The co-petitioners acknowledge that although their marriage is ending, they desire to resolve all of the issues surrounding the dissolution of marriage in the most amicable, expeditious and private fashion possible, for the benefit of themselves and their children," the documents read.

Jordan, a part-owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, led the Bulls to six NBA titles and was a five-time league MVP.

I bet she's frustrated that Michael doesn't spend enough time with her and the kids, but prefers golf, gambling, business, and banging other women as priorities.

If you dudes happen to saw the videos where Jordan was cheering for his two boys playing together in a basketball team, you can't help but feel totally excited. The boys plays like D.Wade and have shooting forms resembling R.Allen.
Uncool though they have to split ways Mr. and Mrs.Jordan

I actually read that thinking a woman wrote it only to be surprised it wasnt. Not a bad read but somewhat one-sided.

Yeah obviously somewhat one sided, but well written and makes a good point. Problem is, people think someone like Jordan is perfect. But he's not perfect. Only way to become -better- is to learn from -mistakes- and he has made alot during his life.

I don't care about the money he will lose. I doubt he will care either. It's the custody of kids that worries me, since mother is favored and will definetly be financially stable after the divorce.

His kids are playing good basketball though, and people say younger Jordan junior has more of a chance to break through in basketball than the older one. But then again I've heard different rumours all around, some say the older brother Jeffrey is far from his father personality and leadership wise. I looked for some vids or clips some time ago hoping to find a few and see some of their game clips, but ended up with nothing.

As a basketball fan he is and still is my favorite player of all-time. Now what he's been up outside of the court its none of my business.

i am sure she will get custody but he will have plenty of visitation rights. he will be allowed to go to all games and everything else. to be honest they probably will see thier father just as much as they do now lol
