Jay Williams back in the NBA

Heh...so sad.

Nets Waive Jay Williams.

East Rutherford, N.J., Oct. 22 – The New Jersey Nets have requested waivers on guard Jay Williams, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today.

Williams, who signed with the Nets on September 28, 2006, appeared in five preseason games, averaging 3.8 ppg in 13.2 minutes per contest.

"It's heartbreaking doing it regardless, and then to do it with a guy like him," Nets coach Lawrence Frank said. "The one thing to think about with him is, let's say he didn't get injured, anyone who takes three, 3 1/2 years off, he just needs an opportunity to play.

"He's a first-class kid. He's someone we're obviously all rooting for. It just comes down to a numbers game, but we felt it was best at this time to let him go and evaluate some other options. What a great kid."

He got that right... sucks for Jay Will altho New Jersey picking him up in the first place wasn't too logical seeing tehy already had Kidd and have Williams on the team too.

He should play overseas... I would have rather to see him try out for a different team tho...

Well, it seems the Nets have released him, so his comeback has hit a big snag.
Personally, I'm opposed to his getting back in the NBA. This is a guy that engaged in an activity that was specifically prohibited in his contract, riding motorcycles, and it bit him in the ass. He even flaunted it in a televised interview, peeling out and whatnot, without a helmet, too, if I remember correctly. He even said to the interviewer that he probably shouldn't be doing that since it wasn't allowed by his contract. The other thing that gets me is that the Bulls bought out his contract, even though Williams was in violation of it. I'm not saying he deserved to be hurt, but if he really cared about his NBA career, he wouldn't have put himself in a situation where he could lose it all.

you remember correctly. he knew he wasn't supposed to be doing what he was doing but he did it anyway

he's very fortunate that the Bulls are a first class organization and bought out his contract for his sakes.

i've said before and i'll say it again. this guy had everything going for him and he pissed it all away.

i'm not going to feel pity for this guy if he can't make a NBA team. he could still make a good living off of doing Duke games and the occasional motivational speeches
