Am i the only one who doesn't feel nostalgic watching that video? Sure i couple of years ago i would've missed 90's NBA...but after witnessing perhaps the greatest overall nba playoffs in history this past season...i feel satisfied that the game is in the good graces of guys like kobe, lebron, wade, nash and nowtizski. lol some of you need to get off the bitter pill.

i've always wondered if Magic ever hit someone with that big one arm whip in the air after a big play. i mean he's had so many great plays in his career, i'm sure it's happened at least once.. possibly to Kurt Rambis?

i'm not sure if i felt nostalgic since the NBA marketing has been cashing in on the retro thing but i definitely feel nostalgic when i'm sitting around the house, seeing what's on TV, and just happen to pass by ESPN classic, which is showing some randomn Bulls game from the glory days

The games too soft now, liked it better when the game was more phsyical. Now you can't go 3 minutes without a foul. Just let them play the game. I remember being in front of my tv for that 4 point play by LJ.

What do you call a power forward that averages 7 rebounds?

I agree in a lot of ways. The 90s were great because of the legends and personalities. I think the new wave of players are beginning to replace them and forge their own era. If this season is as good as last, then we may begin to forget about the 90's and start focussing on the present.

BTW that video was top notch.

Other than those Lakers moments and MAYBE this past playoffs, basketball in these recent years seems to lack these moments. After watching that video, I realize how great the 90s were and how IMHO today it pales in comparison. That move Iverson did on Lue was "sick, wicked, and nasty" (Raptors fans will know what that meant) when Iverson just walked over Lue. Reggie Miller (I STILL wonder how the heck does he shoot with his form), Jordan, and Horry are just flatout cold blooded.

Oh man, this video makes me wonder if only I had actually started watching basketball earlier.

Just recently watched (again) game 6 of the NBA Finals between the Bulls-Sonics.
The pace of that game was just unrelenting on both offense and defense. :o
I can see defense, real defense.
3 Bulls and 3 Sonics under the basket fighting for the rebound and still no foul, I like it! Let the players play.
I was even thinking to myself, "that would be a foul these days" on most of the action.
Damn NBA rules.

Consideering I'm someone who recently started watching NBA within the last 3 years, this video is excellent to look out and shows me history, but the emotional value isn't there.

I remember the Celtics comeback over the Nets... one of the greatest non-Finals series I can recall.

That video gave me chills , especially the Horry and Bryant shots at the end. I didn't follow the NBA until 2001 when the Sixers won the Eastern Conference , so I didn't watch NBC during the Jordan years. What I did see on NBC , however , was some memorable basketball that got me started on the road to following this game , from the Sixers series against the Raptors and Bucks to the final NBC broadcast of the Lakers - Nets series. NBC was the first network I ever saw basketball on , and I miss Marv Albert during the NBA finals. The commentators who do it now , Michaels and recently Breen , aren't as good as Albert.

RIP NBA ON NBC ... for now (i still have the catchy theme on my mp3 playlist (Y) )

Alot of people say this but I don't really agree... I think the reason people still cling onto the 90's (we even have a Vin Baker thread ffs) is that the latest group of players haven't been able to replace the charisma and everything that those guys brought to the game. All of the big time NBA superstars these days basically have no personality it seems, I'm probably more detached from this current era than I have been at any other time.

Yea I agree with you Jae, you just don't see any players as individual or unique as let's say Charles Barkley. No one really stands out to me personality wise, besides people like Ron Artest. Everyone always seems to be just saying the safe, bland answers in interviews, and noone really tries to be different, which isn't a bad thing I guess.

The only player talented player now that has personality that I could think of is Allen Iverson, but as we all know his personality isn't the type the league or David Stern is looking for.
Melo, LeBron, and Wade are all too preoccupied of trying to be MJ clones.
Ron Artest does have personality but it's more of the 'crazy' type.

Kobe? A little, his self-ego.... (Y) I think it's the league that's really limiting the players' character showing on court? :o

Superstars don't have personality? Huh? I really don't get where that's coming from. Tell me how guys like Malone, David Robinson, John Stockton, Clyde Drexler, Scottie Pippen, Hakeem, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway or even Patrick Ewing had any more personality then the superstars now?

I think Lil' Penny pretty much answers for that entire group, but alas, they had more charisma and the way they carried themselves made you respect them. Find me one player in that list who thinks he's a gangsta rapper outside of the obvious one (Stockton). I can't respect these new guys, they act like oversized children with too much money, all of the players you listed acted like men. No mention of showerfun please.

Ok, that I can basically agree with, but there are still plenty of guys today that I can list that don't act like "gangster rappers" and have the same way of carrying themselves that make them command respect. Tim Duncan, Yao Ming, Richard Jefferson, Jermaine O'Neal, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnett, Dirk Nowitzki, Elton Brand, Ray Allen, Kirk Hinrich, Richard Hamilton.

There's plenty more too.

Keep in mind, I do agree with you about the 90s being a better era. I reminisce about those guys a lot more then I will for these guys, but I still think there are more great players that are also respectable people then you're giving credit.

I think those guys you mentioned (with the exception of Tim Duncan and Jason Kidd) don't have that same degree of respect with me that the earlier list does, alot of them are still fairly young and haven't reached their peak yet, some others are just chronically unsuccessful with their teams and the rest are borderline... whereas the Malone/Stockton/Robinson etc list had experience/winning and whatever else you can really think of from top to bottom. That being said, I do find it easier supporting guys like Elton Brand and Richard Jefferson as opposed to alot of other current stars.
