He was used as a 6th man during the last season/playoffs and if I remember correctly, he said he became content with the role during this offseason. Ross starts at SF and serves as a defensive stopper on the first unit, Mobley is the designated spot shooter and Maggete comes off the bench providing elite scoring punch.

I'll be very suprised if Ross starts this season ahead of Tim Thomas and Maggette.

Yeah I always thought Maggette was coming off the bench due to the fact he was injured... Lacklustre defence or not, you dont leave a 20+ppg scorer sitting on the bench...

How many games did you see to make the judgement of him being a "lacklustre" defender?

I quite like the idea of the Clippers starting Ross....from the games I saw them play (one live & a couple on tv), the Clippers looked like a better unit with Ross on the floor....

Exactly. Their team is so more balanced. Plus, Thomas is a replacement for Radmanovic and wasn't he coming off the bench with Maggette. Thomas off the bench enables Clippers to play small ball with Brand moving to C and Thomas playing PF and replacing Mobley's shooting when he needs some rest.

Kaman/Brand
Brand/Thomas
Ross/Maggette/Thomas
Mobley/Maggette/Livingston
Cassell/Livingston

That's your 8 man rotation right there. The only change from last year would be Thomas replacing Radmanovic.

Not matter how well Ross plays I can't see them starting him ahead of a healthy Maggette. Maggette is a breakout waiting to happen.

Well, Maggette doesn't start for the Clippers. They have enough offense in the starting lineup, they need the defense of Ross. Maggette gives them a punch off the bench.
