Mourning was a defensive force, it could be argued that he should have packed it in as well, given his medical maladies.

He's still better then any C the Cavs have.

Shaq - even though he made 1st team all-NBA last year, he's not what he once was, and is declining rapidly

and yet he still draws automatic double teams

Haslem, who is a nice player who is unfortunately probably already as good as he is going to get

maybe maybe not, but still better than anything Cavs have.

While only losing Murray, the Cavs have added David Wesley (similar player to Murray, only disadvantage being age), Scot Pollard, and rookie draftees Shannon Brown and Daniel Gibson.

nothing to brag about

---bubble teams - probably playoff bound unless things go wrong

DETROIT PISTONS
INDIANA PACERS

Probably playoff bound? this is a joke.

---definitely in, barring a catastrohpic event

CHICAGO BULLS

The Bulls are the trendy pick to reach lofty heights this year, even picked to surpass the Cavaliers by some experts. Such nonsense...
........Defense hasn't exactly been the Bulls problem

MIAMI HEAT
CLEVELAND CAVALIERS

The Cavaliers are one of the few teams that match up with the Heat, as they can somewhat offset Shaq with the presence of Zydrunas Ilgauskas

1st off, Bulls did have problems with their rebounding, and adding Brown & Wallace helps.

Miami Heat i agree are a deffinate lock, but Cavs, please, had they not acquired Flip Murray last season they would have been in the lottery.

The bit about matching up with Miami is a joke too. The Heat are better at every position except the 3.

Whoever wrote this article is a pessimist when it comes to evaluating teams, except the Cavs where he's totally optimistic. He forgot to mention Clevelands inability to rebound in the clutch, or anyone other than LeBron to score reliably. Yet he hypes Luke Jackson....awesome!

I totally agree!! :D

I agree. I think the cavs are the best in the east.
Compared to last year, in the upcoming season they will have better chemistry and defense, a more experienced coach, more balanced bench and with some luck, a recovered Hughes.

Moreover, Miami is a team full of oldies that already achieved their mission of winning a championship, Detroit lost big ben and the bulls are still not good enough to make some serious campaign.

New Jersey looks like a fine squad however i don't think they can do much with just Krstic in frontcourt.

I'm skeptical that Eric Snow & Larry can lead a team to the NBA Finals. LeBron is unstoppable, but outside of his 30 there's still the other 60-80 points that needs to be accounted for, and that starts w/ the guardplay. You simply don't see NBA championship teams with weak guards.

I think people are guilty of selective memory when it comes to the Cavs playoff performance. A lot of is made of them "almost" beating Detroit. But they also "almost" lost to the Wizards. The series was tied 2 - 2, and then the Cavs won the next 2 games by a grand total margin of 2 points. 4 Free Throws, and the Wizards win that series 4 - 2 instead of the Cavs.

EDIT:
Larry Hughes can't even make a fist with his shooting hand. GL Cavs.

Defenetely NOT, I can tell you that. They have some hope to conference finals though, but beating Heat with all of their main players staying is not possible. Another thing is the Pacers, who will I'm sure do their best next season and might come out even on the top of the East, or at least second of third. They have the roster to do it, they just need the chemistry.

Its not set in stone yet, but its a strong possibility for the CAVs to reach the finals, Face it the east is almost wide open. The champs should be the favorites, but they are an aging champ. Detroit is a wild card as is Indy, expect Lebron to give a repeat performance from last year, and D-wade too. Hell had Cleveland took Detroit out in game 6 when they had the chance, I'm not so sure Miami would have beaten them in the east finals.

This guy just went out and crowned Cavs as East champs despite them not improving much, Miami staying the same and he hasn't even seen Indiana or Detroit, 2 teams that can realistically take the East, play yet.

if they can stay healthy, they will do well

There is no way anyone can pick the best in the east yet, like everyone says, its just way too open to chose a single best. You cant even pick whose gonna win central...

Easy on them Rockets, i saw a squad that had potential last year, but only played together maybe 20 out of 82 games due to various injuries. This year they improve on last years squad majorly in my opinion. So give them a chance, and remember ain't many dudes in the league that can put up 13 points in 35 seconds against the Spurs.
