Reading his comments in the first article again, I noticed he never explicitly stated he was absolutely going to retire. Perhaps the Bulls have privately shown a little more interest in bringing him back and he's going to wait a couple of weeks before making it official. As I said before, I wouldn't mind him playing one more year in Chicago.
