Seems like he is going to head to Washington. I doubt Golden State will try offer him something better ( max they could of offer was 60mill i think), his price tag will just keep rising if they tried to match the Wizards offer.

If i was Gilbert i would go to LA Clippers even though they have a bad management..

Bad news for the Clippers and Warriors alike. I think Arenas should have stayed in Golden State.

Damn... It's getting harder being a Golden State fan those days... (N)

Arenas will be a backcourt partner of Larry Hughes now...

C - Haywood
PF - Mommy
SF - Stack
SG - Hughes
PG - Arenas

Pretty good IMO... Playoff material in the East... Gilbert averaging 22 ppg, 6 rpg, 8 apg... Good players shifting from West to East...

Damn. (N)

if larry hughes has another level to his game, and can get it there this season, and kwame finally adapts to the pro game, this team could be going somewhere in the near future.

I see Arenas scoring numbers dipping a bit now, with shot happy Stack and Hughes. I think this might be finally Kwame's year.

Hopefully it's Kwame's year or he's most likely going to be traded. I'm glad that Arenas signed with the Wizards though. He said that Abe Polin (the Wizards owner) had a lot of impact on his decision because he thought about Donald Sterling as well. I doubt the Warriors can top this deal off but if not, they'll probably go with Speedy Claxton. Juan Dixon was played great in the summer league also.

If Washington truly gets him, they finally have a point guard. If he stays, good news for the Warriors.

A fine example of how Sterling is viewed by free agents. Even though the Clippers have always matched offer sheets and most of the players they've let walk haven't done much in their post-Clipper days, there is still that reputation of being cheap and difficult to work for.

washington is lucky nba raised the salary cap, otherwise arenas in signing with the wiz unlikely happens

should be interesting to see what kwame brown has to say now. I wonder how he and arenas will get along. when he heard the wiz were interested in bringing in gilbert, he sounded disappointed and said that they need a pass first guard, and not someone who jacks shots up for long misses. browns playing like crap in summer league btw.

wiz now have the best tweener guards in the game- arenas, hughes, dixon. Poor hughes, arenas took his spot in GS, now he's taking PT from in the nation's capital. my projected starting 5:
arenas
stack
hayes
brown
haywood

hayes gets the nod over hughes because he fits in better with that group- moves bell w/o the ball & can come off screens and hit perimeter shots. wonder how many touches KB will get a game now with arenas and stack taking most of the shots??!!

Eddie Jordan has said before that if Hayes doesn't do so well, they will switch Stackhouse to SF and add Hughes to SG (which he feels is his true position in the game).

seems like a lot of you guys are not quite familiar with arenas...i get the feeling that you guys think his style is similar to scoring point guards like AI, putting up 30 shots a night...which is not true...

being a warriors fan for a while (since the Run TMC days) i would classify arenas as a guy who:

handles the ball well...excellent defender...can play 48 minutes if needed...streaky shooter at best...above average free throw shooter...can get into foul trouble every now and then with reach-ins and bumps...runs the fast break well...has an extra gear to finish inside...still has much to learn about his position...can play the 2 if needed...

the only thing that really annoyed me about him was that he ran the shot clock too far down (usually all the way down to 5) on iso's...

the reason why he put up numbers as good as they seemed is because it seemed like the warriors depended on different players every nite last season...sometimes it was Arenas, other times it was Jamison, other times it was JRich...and typically Gilbert stepped up during those times...

i will miss him, as i feel he's an obvious steal being picked in the 2nd round...and i do see a lot of potential in him with the right guidance...while another great draft pick leaves the warriors  it's sad that Gilbert's decision ultimately came down to money...

sounds like a superstar there. he sure gets paid like it now. but seriously... i watched quite a bit GS games myself since i had arenas on my fantasy squad. i agree he has all those talents except for excellent defender. he may get a few steals here and there, but on defense arenas gives up the same amount of points he scores on offense quite frequently.

yeh i was a little upset he left GS. arenas was the slut whore of this years free agency. it seemed like everyday it was some new team that had the title of 'will sign arenas today'. i was beginning to think he was actually going to resign with all these offers being turned down. at least the suspense is over now and GS fans can get on with their lives. if it's any consolation- at least welsch, dunleavy, and pietrus have played well in the summer leagues

Hughes is going to play SG with Stack moving to SF next year (at least that's what the coaches said).

I dunno, I'd rather have Hughes come off the bench as sixth man at three diff. positions than have him start....

Weren't they talking about Hayes playing some PG? If so, Hayes can backup three positions.

Nah, Hayes is supposed to be like Glen Rice... I don't think he'll ever play PG.

larry hughes was not shot happy when he was with the wizards and you could tell that was true because his ppg went down a lot

hughes true position is the shooting guard but he can also play point but he is more suited to play sg
