Sorry if your workout regime strongly resembles T-Mac's, but I learned this "rule" not from someone, but from many sources and from several bodybuilding forums where there are guys in kinesthiology and work as professional bodybuilders. If you look in the newest bodybuilding and fitness books, they also mention that keeping a proper form is important to minimize injury.
And many people said Peja's shooting form was horrible, and look that got him. Just becuase you aren't aware of something, doesnt mean its wrong or bad.

Peja's shooting form works for him despite its unorthodox style. It doesn't mean he can't shoot because his style works for him. This is a different issue though, on minimizing injury. T-Mac's lifting form may get him stronger and build muscle, but the form is not controlled, risking himself to injury.

But you don't know if Tmac unorthodox way of lifting weights works for him or not. People get back issues all the time, think back to Larry Johnson. Was that becuase of bad form in lifting weights?

Shooting the ball improperly isn't going to potentially lead to physical injury though. Unless you have absolutely no control over your body and somehow contort your body meaninglessly when you shoot, that is.
Just becuase you aren't aware of something, doesnt mean its wrong or bad.
But not knowing something also can lead to bad things, and it's best to be educated on something before you should attempt it.
You wouldn't go skydiving without learning the basics first and how everything works, now would you?
Sun Sep 10, 2006 1:30 pm
No, but there may be a better way to skydive then the system we have now. The comparison between peja's shooting form and tmacs workout form wasnt injury related. It was to point out how experts would have criticised pejas shooting for being the "proper technique", the same way tmac's workout gets criticised. But you can't argue with results.

I'm not saying that T-Mac's bad back was a direct result from lifting weights. It could be from anything else such as tweaking it after picking up a shoe from the floor. His way of lifting weights is not actually unorthodox. Many, many other people lift the same way he does, and in the bodybuilding community, they're regarded as "n00bs," even if they're huge and muscular. The thing is, from the research done, having a controlled motion reduces the chance of injuries. There's countless instructions on how to lift a box or heavy object properly in the workplace (bending your knees, sticking your butt out) to minimize injury. The same guidelines apply to bodybuilding.

Just give up, you lost. This is horrible weightlifting technique, and since it was from 2005-06, it may possibly have been one of the possible sources of his back injury last year. Just my opinion.

WHO CARES ABOUT THE WAY THE MAN LIFTS WEIGHTS AS LONG AS HE CAN PLAY THIS UPCOMING SEASON THEN ITS ALL GOOD AND BESIDES A TRAINER CANT BE THAT STUPID ENOUGH TO ALLOW HIM TO LIFT WEIGHTS THE WRONG WAY CUZ HE KNOWS IN THE END THAT HE'LL BE SUIED FOR SURE.

I'm still clinging to the rumour i heard a few months back about the lakers trading for T-Mac without getting rid of kobe. That'd be a dream come true. But looks unlikely
T-Mac I think will kill it this season, he had a rough time of it last year with injuries and his personal life I think he'll come out this year with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove which is frankly pretty scary with a player as talented and as good of a scorer as T-Mac is.

Have you ever lifted a weight in your life?
Mon Sep 11, 2006 4:25 pm
working hard or hard working
Tue Sep 12, 2006 6:02 am
^I believe the expression is "working hard or hardly working", because "working hard or hard working" is a pretty meaningless statement.

He's from Estonia, leave him alone.

Yea, didn't his kid die or something? I remember hearing that he had quite a serious personal issue, and JVG asked him whether he wanted to take the season off so it must've been something quite serious. I'm sure bball would be the last thing on his mind with whatever went on in his life.

I dont think Tmac has a kid, u may be thinking of Lamar Odom, but that happened quite recently
Wed Sep 13, 2006 11:33 am
Yeah, Lamar Odom was the one whose dead son was in the news b/c he was forced to quit Team USA because of it.

Bad form in lifting weight often leads to back issues. But we never say that every back issue is a result of bad form in lifting weights.
It's a fallacy to say "if B then A" based on the statement "if A then B".

Ahhh good old Philosophy 105 - Critical Thinking.
I find it sort of weird that this guy is a professional trainer, yet still letting T-Mac do the lifting with supposedly bad form, the guy must have his reasons for letting T-Mac do it with that form because he must be aware of correct form for weight lifting.....
Thats my 2 cents, its not like I know much abotu weight lifting anyway.
Thu Sep 14, 2006 8:51 pm
the problem t-mac has with lifting these weights is they are too heavy for him. its best to lift lighter weights properley and concentrate on a particular muscle set then lifting the heaviest weights u can with no proper method.
its like practicing shooting 3's from midcourt, when you should have your 24-footer down first.
Fri Sep 15, 2006 4:10 am
Wow, T-Mac is working very hard. He used to look really skinny, but I wonder what he will look like in two years if he continues to do that workout.
Fri Sep 15, 2006 7:47 am
T-Mac's so retarded, why listen to a PROFESSIONAL NBA TEAM'S TRAINING STAFF when he's got the NLSC telling him he's doing it all wrong?!?!
Sat Sep 16, 2006 7:05 pm
lol.... we'll see how professional the trainer is during the regular season..... all you have to do is to see how long he lasts through the season

that's right, because a professional is never wrong.
