well if u like creativity, nate robinson was creative if u know what i mean :D

i also know a guy named dominique wilkins who always did windmill dunks but people never got bored of him :)

btw entering the contest, nobody predicted iguodala doing such a crazy dunk, as he was more of a power dunker so i should say expect the unexpected, dwight would really fit in that dunk contest.

well off the top of my head the only big man i can think of that would rival dwight would be larry nance, but dwight is somewhat better than him. do u have another other great big man dunkers? im nt sure but i thnk that dwight would be the best, and i would take him over josh smith, nate robinson, tony allen and possibly even Carney and igoudala. its just the fact that no big man since larry nance has had a real chance at winning the contest, or impressed. oh by the way i just thought of stromile swift but nah dwight would kill him, also tyrus thomas and hakim warrick play like bigs and are amazing dunkers but they still arnt big men

Mon Aug 28, 2006 6:59 am

amare stoudemire ?

Mon Aug 28, 2006 7:09 am

lol i forgot bout him but im convinced dwight would be better for the contest than him. amare actually doesnt jump very high, check out footage of his 2002 (?) HS dunk contest and youll see what im talking about. also i mite be able to see how high he really is jumping if u look at some good camera angles from the 2005 contest. amare is good, but i wouldnt take him over dwight

 He did more than just windmill dunks. He could fly.

another big man i forgot about was chris bosh, he can do some nice stuff, not like dwight though...

Are you serious? Based on what? That one dunk Dwight did last season where he pulled the ball back from way behind him?

do u have another other great big man dunkers?

If I did some thinking I could find a whole bunch, but the only name I need is Shawn Kemp. In his prime he would have eaten Dwight Howard alive in a dunk contest.

Mon Aug 28, 2006 5:14 pm

Whats your problem with Dwight Howard, Jae? He could make the dunk contest, maybe shake up the contest to try to get more people to watch it.

Mon Aug 28, 2006 5:52 pm

I don't have a problem with Dwight Howard, but why on Earth would he make more people watch it? I just find it strange that people are so convinced he'd be great in the contest based on 2 or so dunks he's done in his career + one clip of him in a lay-up drill.

I'd rather see some of the line-ups mentioned, like Iguodala, Carney, White, Gay/Lee/Robinson/etc etc.

Mon Aug 28, 2006 9:15 pm

I doubt Dwight Howard could do anything better than he did in that in-game dunk....even if he did that in-game dunk in the dunk contest, it probably wouldn't look anywhere near as impressive....

Mon Aug 28, 2006 10:40 pm

Second Jae on the 'rain-mans' behalf. He was much better! Who did he point at that time after throwing it down on his head? That was impressive! James White should take it hopefully! He was ripped when he lost to Dave Lee.

Mon Aug 28, 2006 11:43 pm

I think the guy was Alton Lister, which is why it's called the Lister Blister.

Tue Aug 29, 2006 2:16 am

Jae, Your right about Shawn Kemp, he would probably kill Dwight Howard. I am basing the fact that dwight howard should be in the contest because:

1. He's a big man, rarely seen in contests now days

2. He has amazing jumping ability

3. He has the ability to throw down amazing power dunks, but also has enough hang time to finesse it

Thats why i think he should be in the contest. Even though i left carney off the list and replaced him with dwight, if i could see one of those two guys do their best dunks, i would choose carney. but the problem with carney is he is just gonna dunk like Iggy, Green, and White. hes another swingman with big hops and good creativity... i wanna see some diversity this year, because having nate robinson (dont get me wrong his dunks, when made, were amazing) in there last year, going against guys much bigger, didnt work out very well.

Tue Aug 29, 2006 4:17 am

If the contest was expanded to 6 or 8 players I'd have no problems with Dwight being in there, I'd be pretty curious to see what he comes up with, but with only 4 I wanna see 4 pure finesse guys going at it.

Tue Aug 29, 2006 4:32 am

Yea i see what u mean, but as much as i love Carney, i would take Dwight simply for the diversity factor

Tue Aug 29, 2006 7:05 am

I totally agree with Jae, if they want to make it a real contest again, they'll need to have 4 of those swingmen highflyers in there so it really comes down to creativity and tactics. Big men and little guys usually get way too many points for regular dunks.

And they do include big men every once in a while, but I think Chris Andersen ruined it for the next couple decennia.

What they also need is good judges, 50 are given out way to easy. Jordan, Wilkins and Carter didn't even get straight 50s in 2000.

I didn't know Jordan and Wilkins competed in 2000 :P

Tue Aug 29, 2006 11:45 am

btw rodney carney sucked big time at last year's ncaa slam dunk competition

Tue Aug 29, 2006 11:47 am

yea but i dont think he was going hardout and he also pulled out wen i fell... i think he just wanted to play it safe so he didnt get injured or anything, with the upcoming draft that would be a big blow

Tue Aug 29, 2006 2:44 pm

That missed free throw line dunk where he took off from like a foot outside of it and only barely missed the dunk was enough for me to know he'd probably be great in a dunk contest if given another chance.

Tue Aug 29, 2006 2:52 pm

yea man, i was like wat the fuck is that even possible???? Rodney Carney is one of my favorite rooks this year, damn i had to watch that dunk over and over... if hes in the contest and pull that off, i would like to see if flight white trys like a windmill from there... that would be spectacular

Yeah, that's what I'm saying, they got like 39s and shit and didn't even make it through the qualification rounds. On the real though, I originally just named Carter but later added Jordan and Wilkins to back up my point and I fucked up.
