New Orleans/Minnesota Conference Switch

Postby Full Surface on Fri Jul 25, 2003 10:26 pm

I think I heard something about the New Orleans going to the Western Conference and Minnesota to the Eastern Conference next season. Can anyone confirm if this is true? If it is, Minnesota would most likely be in the top 3 teams next year for the East.

I think it wouldn't be a bad switch. It evens out the two conferences a little more.

It might be Memphis moving to the East, not Minnesota. I'm not sure.

Both Minnesota and Memphis have applied to move East with the impending conference realignments.

they had shareef as an all star

I think Reef made the All-Star team as a Hawk, but not during his time with the Grizzlies.

I think it was really only Michael Heisley that betrayed the fans and the city.

True. I heard the same thing Andrew. Minnesota and Memphis might head East. It would be good for the Timberwolves to head that direction because they would take the 1 spot for sure. However, I rather keep them in West because then I'd get to see them take on the top teams more: Sacramento, San Antonio, and Lakers. I rather see Minnesota work for the championship and pay their dues. See what they got. Even though if they head East and go to finals and possibly win the championship which is good, I like it in the West. As for New Orleans, yes they are heading West I think this upcoming season or the next. I remember seeing it on NBA.com about mid-season.

I think New Orleans have actually been given a choice as to when they want to move to the Western Conference, this coming season or the 2004/2005 season when the new Charlotte franchise will begin play. If I were the Hornets, I would stay in the East as long as possible.

Dude.....Minnesota isn't west....its the Central East Minnesota and West don't even sound right if you think about it plus New Orleans is going west because the NEW ORLEANS JAZZ were West as the Utah Jazz are now

Last time I checked, the Minnesota Timberwolves are in the Western Conference. And in any event I never said anything about the state of Minnesota being a Western state. In fact, I never even mentioned the word Minnesota in the paragraph you quoted. I'm not sure what you're trying to say or prove, but it certainly has nothing to do with the point I was discussing :?

The NBA has already approved the realignment of the New Orleans Hornets to the Western Conference. However, the decision is the Hornets' to make as to whether they change conferences this coming season (2003/2004), or the season after (2004/2005) when the Bobcats begin play in the East.

On a related note, Minnesota and Memphis have both expressed interest in being placed in the Eastern Conference.

That's what I was talking about.

It's cool. I was just a little confused, because I never mentioned anything about the geographical location of Minnesota. :)
