I was thinking bout the NBA and the new era of players, and like Magic, MJ, and Bird, now we got Kobe, Duncan, KG, T-mac, VC, and AI. And surely Kobe, T-mac, and KG are on the top of the list, they are our Bird, Jordan, and Magic.
But if they did somehow manage to put KB8 away, what would happen?

Good question. I don't know who would step into Kobe's spot in this generation's Big Three. Based on popularity, the most likely superstars to take Kobe's spot would be Vince or AI. Duncan and Nowitzki are also possible candidates for being a marquee player of the NBA.

Though i think is Iverson i sorta hope is Vince if he can play all 82 games...Also there are lots of other canditades (don't know the correct spelling) ex Stephon Marbuary, Elton Brand, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Jermaine O'Neal....

but the problem is that non of them would have the dedication and love for the game like Kobe did --> Jordan. I guess they love it on the court, but like Jordan Kobe had such a passion for the game that he took it 8 hours a day off court as well. I guess the next closest thing would be Carter though cause of the jams and showimte he will bring back.

I think Iverson has a similar kind of competitive drive though - he certainly has the heart.

are you serious? kobe has more skills than AI, iverson is ust so dam fast, but doesn't have that great of a shot.

i forgot something, kobe has the record for most 3's in a game... 12 threes, wow, i forgot about that game, he was on fire, and remember that game when he dropped 42 on MJ, in the first half  the 9 straight games of 40+, the 13 straight 35+... the youngest player to reach 10,000 points...3 championships in 7 years in the league... i really hope he doesn't get convicted...

oh i personaly think paul pierce as a short-time replacement for kobe than in long tern leBron james once he develops... but than again you can't replace kobe... :o

lol on Denver right now noone could do anything with. Rememebr MJ had Pippen , Horace/ Dennis, Kukoc, fuck he had alot of players to win with too. Iverson had, he just had a good year that year, and his teamates just played their D. Like Dikembe, Snow, Lynch, Every player even MJ and AI have had good players surrounding them. If you did the same with Kobe he'd do just as good.[/u]

I don't think Kobe has more skills...
Iverson is 6'0, Kobe is 6'7...they both play SG, so he (AI) is always defended by taller guys.

i find it strange that people on this board say that jordan had some good talent around him during the bulls championship years. a fair number of people also believe that some of those bulls teams were one of the greatest teams ever. and yet some people believe that this current spurs team could beat these bulls teams from the past

btw, big country bryant scored 42 pts on mj in one half? the 42pts in one half is a great achievement. doing it against MJ at this point of his career- so what? maybe if this happened against mj in his prime....

i think ai's shooting gets a bad rep, true he is usually shooting over taller players, but he is also banged around alot and not just by taller guards, but by big sf's pf's and c's, he is also held quite a bit and has to fight off defenders. no matter how tough he is, he is minute in size compared to what he faces every night, and even if he has the stamina to go the distance, his arms have to get tired during a game and that can affect your shots, especially considering he probably has to try to get his shot off faster than many players because a taller defender may block it if his release is too slow.

ya they had good talent, they went to Second round without MJ. They had Pippen a top 50 player, Rodman(com'n he was a great player, for off. and def.), they had Kukoc (6th man of the year) Kerr in his younger days ahd a blazing shot like no other. And thats just after his 1st return, earlier I don't know, but I'm sure he had alot of backup then too.

remember kobe has shaq. last yr proved when shaq that the laker were a mediocre team. they wouldnt had made the playoffs. sometimes it aint always about skills but how well others players with you. do they play at a higher level when you out there. i dont see that in kobe. every great player including iverson makes every else better. dont let the love of kobe cloud your judgement. the media loves kobe that all.

lakers without kobe are a mediocre team also(before this pre-season obviously).

Kobe got the Lakers to that playoffs last year, not Shaq, its Kobes team now(even with Payton and Malone) hes the goto guy.
He averaged over 40ppg in a month to give the lakers a chance at the top 4 in the West.

Why do you find that strange?

earlier I don't know, but I'm sure he had alot of backup then too.

Earlier he had John Paxson, terrific 3 point shooter, BJ Armstrong who was also great from behind the line, he had Horace Grant scoring 16-17 & grabbing 9 rebs per game, he had Cartwright who was great defense and let's not forget Scottie who was almost averaging a triple double every game.

its Kobes team now(even with Payton and Malone) hes the goto guy.

Yeah, I agree, as soon the Lakers started being "Kobe's team" they started losing, don't you see that? The main guy in that team is Shaq, and that's already in Kobe's mind. Take Shaq out and let's see how many games the Lakers would win. Now take Kobe out and you will see the Lakers would win more games with Shaq without Kobe than with Kobe without Shaq.
