you cant omit someone from team simply because they might become injured (unless its someone like camby or livingston)

Its not that he will get injured its just he has such a high chance of getting hurt they dont want to take the chance. Is Allen Iverson gonna be a top 15 player in 2008? I don know but probably not. Im just saying Colangelo is picking young guys who will grow together and get some productive chemistry.

if it were up to me, i would scrap the enite sixers roster except dalembert, iguodala, green and korver (scoring off the bench)

iverson is still better than the majority of people on the roster when he plays hurt -- he's literally been hurt his whole career. if you did not watch the 2004 olympics, iverson knows his role within the team -- he had the pass first mentality and he took smart shots. he was arguably the best player on that team. it just sucks how iverson is used as a scapegoat for everything.

AI deserves to be on the US team. maybe he wont have 33 a game, but he'll get 26 a game easy. there arent gonna be many PG's in the league who will be better then him in 2008 (maybe CP3 and thats it)

whats the situation with B-Diddy, J-Rich and Arenas and Bibby?

Sun Mar 05, 2006 11:30 am

They don't need any more guards on the U.S. team. They need a big. Brad Miller as the only true center just isnt cutting it.

well davis is a HORRIBLE shooter for starters...

heres a good quote from dimemag about iverson
dimemag wrote:Allen Iverson – He wanted to play in Athens and he wants to play now. People kill him because he dominates the ball so much in Philly, but he hardly played that way in the last Olympics. While other guys have to be begged to show up for Team USA, A.I. has repeatedly said he wants to represent and win a gold medal … but the guy can’t even get an invite? Are we really leaving a 30-plus point scorer at home? Something else is going on here.

Yeah but Davis is now one of the best passers in the NBA, i think the USA team needs a balance of players who don't need the ball to be effective unlike last time

Wait a second... the reason why there's a trianing squad is so that the coahces can be versatile with who they pick to form the final team. I don't see any problem with including AI on the squad, let him play in Japan this Summer then in 3 years time, if his body isn't holding up, don't put him on the Olympic team. If his body is good and he's playing well... you're not missing out on including a talented player who acutally wants to represent his country.
