I don't buy that. Jordan averaged 8 assists per game one season in the triangle, while still scoring 32...

And Kobe is averaging 4 assists too. And ofcourse lets not forget that MJ>>>Kobe.
The thing I don't understand is...if you're going to put up that much...why go out of the game?

it just showed how much he cared about stat padding that he would risk hurting himself.

Im sure everyone knows what happened in the 4th. Kobe's lookalike got hurt and is now out for the rest of the season. That could have been Kobe hurt out there.

Anyway, what do you guys think of Profit and Kobe looking eeringly similar on the court? Same headshape, body and even the body language. Hell, even Stu Lantz have repeatedly mistake Profit as Kobe.

Ok kobe got 62 points in 3 quarters. Wilt got 69 in 3 quarters and finished with a 100 points at the end of the game. Had Kobe played in the 4 quarter he would have broken Wilt's record. I do believe so. The way he was playing was amazing and extraordinary.

Kobe would have needed 38 to reach 100. Not happening. If i'm Dallas, i trpl team Kobe as soon as he gets the ball.

You've already lost, the margin doesn't matter, it's still just 1 loss. But if he scores 70+ everyone will remember that.

Hell does anyone remember Detroit beating Boston 3,4yrs ago by 63pnts (or was it 53), probably not.

I think after he'd scored 30+ they would've been double/triple teaming him. You're right though, 100 was not going to happen.

They had all five guys clobbering on him at one point. I think he could have reached 80 points(realistically). In some ways its a good thing he didnt continue because if he scored that 80+ then maybe he would try going for those kinda points more often seeing that he knows he can do it.

on the comparisons to Michael's 69 pts performance, MJ DID get 18 rebs, 6 asts, and 4 stls in that game. and Kobe? a whopping ZERO assists.

So what if he had 0 assists, Is he the first person in the league to have no assists in a game? If he had no assists and they lost the game badly then I would understand if you can say he never got people involved, but they were blowing out the Mavs and I didnt see any of the Laker players begging for the ball. I'm tired of people discrediting his performance because he had no assists.

I don't think assists are really an accurate way to measure how often someone passes the ball. Stephon Marbury can get 14 assists in a game, but he might only pass the ball 14 times. You'd have to actually watch the game to tell whether he was ball hogging or not, because from what I've seen he just got himself in the right place at the right time and was fouled on every second shot. It wasn't all 1 on 5.

y r ppl still ripping on him as a ballhog becuz he has no assists... you have guys like francis and marbury averaging more assists than kobe but they don't get wins.. if you hog the ball and can win the game what does it matter. all you need is the w. ai had 53 in a losing effort against the hawks... kinda hypocrital seeing no one is blasting ai
PPL r a little feisty these days:D

Yeah. Almoust everytime he touched the ball something good happened. But he still had couple of ill-advised long shots.

AI doesn't hog it though. He's the main option on offense but the guy passes to teammates doesn't force it much.

Anyway, IMO Kobe is less selfish than LBJ.

Considering he needed 38, and just scored 30 in the third quarter, he only needed to score 8 more than he did in the previous quarter. And the lakers were way up, so they could have afforded to allow kobe to jack up shots.

But if Kobe was satisfied with 62, thats all that matters. It's amazing how he can play at that level and yet dickheads still find a way to criticise him for it.

aww come on 32 at half and 30 in the third. thats just impossible. if he would've played in the fourth he would've droped like 85 with no problem at all.

I believe he could've scored 100+ had he played in the fourth quarter.
