I think Lebron James is just as arrogant as Kobe Bryant. How clouded can someone's mind be that they dont see Lebron with all that chest thumping and crying over fouls when refs ever so often call some very mysterious ones in his favor. Lebron is a good player, dont get me wrong, but the wow factor that Lebron has in this league is nothing compared to what Jordan did in his days. He needs to stop obsessing over trying to be better than Jordan and just go out there and play ball and have fun with his teammates. I also hope Kobe would do the same damn thing. I think Kobe and Lebron are awesome player but I know that they will never be Jordan and thats just fine with me, Kobe's gotta be Kobe and Lebron has also got to be Lebron.

Lebron shoots a higher percentage but he isn't using as much energy on the defense end that Kobe does. Kobe is the Lakers best defender, that is hardly the case for Lebron.

Ohh yea for sure. LeBron might get an occasional steal or block, but Kobe motivates everyone by comeing up with a nice defensive play. I think Kobe gets people more involved. LeBron is all flash imo, he just looks for the flashiest way to score or to pass, or on a breakaway dunk. Kobe just makes the good pass or shot.

Who's this 'Kobe' you're talking about? Did I miss something? Is there more than one in LA?

and big z

but seriously, on that night james had the hot hand. he was scoring well, and efficiently. Why wouldnt he continue? the team was probably down, and the coach probably told the team to get it into his hands because he was on fire.

i agree about kobe motivating people through his defense, but kobe getting people more involved? he's only been doing that the last couple of games and i think it's pretty unfair to base your whole argument on that. he's only done that a couple times last season, and only recently this season. LBJ has done it since he came into the league in 03. and just for arguments sake, there was a stretch where kobe fired up 30 shots or more in seven out of a possible nine games, and in one of those games came up with a season high of 46. in that particular game he fired up 36 shots. lebron got 52 last night with only 29 attempts. just because lebron's flashy doesn't mean he's selfish. have you watched any of the cavs game this year? other than last night where no one other than big Z could give him help whatsoever, LBJ plays within the team concept.

i wouldn't really call him arrogant, but more so that he thinks hes deserving of all the calls he's getting. you see the chest thumping a lot so it doesn't bug me that much, but the constant bitching about fouls really irks me.

and whats with people always assuming players like kobe and lebron in particular, to be michael jordan? just because kobe emulated jordan's postups, and fadeaways? because lebron picked the number 23, for the sole reason that he idolizes michael jordan? if thats the case then why dont we say jason kidd is trying to be like magic johnson because he runs the break as good as he did, or charlie villanueva trying to be like reggie miller because he chose the number 31 as his jersey number. the only thing that these guys share with jordan is that they strive to be great players and to be the best. what is so wrong with that? there are also people like duncan, garnett, mcgrady and others who strive to be the best as well too.. so why don't we say they're trying to be the next jordan?

LeBron was such an arrogant bitch in high school. I hated him. I think he's calmed down a bit in the NBA... he obviously knows he's good but I don't think he's as arrogant these days.

As far as the "he's trying too much to be like Jordan" thing, I never understand that. If a guy wants to try and be like the best guard, and possibly best player in the history of the game why shouldn't he? Should he settle for being Mitch Richmond or something instead?

Ugh I know. I've seen a bunch of videos of him and I want to bash him across the head with a hammer. Maybe he'll calm down too.

i think u guys are over analyzing lebron... there are plenty of players who pump their chest after they get a 3 pt play... ive seen j-kidd do it plenty of times this year, and hes not selfish or full of himself. i think a lot of ppl mesh passion for the game and cockiness... come on... get over it... if a guy screams or pumps his chest that doesnt make him cocky. i saw a crappy ass white kid in my school league do that after a big play... and he was not even close to being worthy of being full of himself

The main reason LeBron doesn't cop the same flak as Kobe - apart from the strong Kobe anti-culture - for similar play (the 52 point game aside) is that the Cavaliers got off to a much better start while the Lakers have only climbed back to the .500 mark recently. With the Cavs on a bit of a slide I'd expect the same kind of criticisms will be made of LeBron. Winning has a way of making things like that seem much more tolerable.

LeBron also manages to dodge the criticism because he's averaging about the same points per game on around five fewer shots per game, though if you compare their average field goal attempts per game and points per game to the second leading scorer on their respective teams the difference is about the same.
