Kirilenko or Gasol....
I would take Kirilenko over Gasol anyday. What about you?

Kirilenko>>>Gasol
In my book it's not even close.

I think Gasol's better on offense, but really, Kirilenko's not that far behind. As far as D goes it's not remotely close.

you didnt even anwser.

there is no answer needed , AK47....

the bearded spanish fly for me- pau gasol and i don't think it's a no brainer as pretty much everyone is saying
they completely have different games
gasol is an established post player with a good face up game. he can pass well out of double teams, get to the ft line a lot and hits ft's at a respectable rate, and a good defensive presence in the paint
he does have strength and turnover issues however
JAE: AK not far behind gasol offensively? better think that one over again.
AK is a defensive dynamo, a difference maker like ben wallace. but can be overpowered by PF's, similar to gasol when gasol has to play C. offensively, he's a poor man's marion. can't create his own shot and uses his athleticism for most of his points
Sat Nov 12, 2005 10:25 am
AK47 all the way.
Sat Nov 12, 2005 10:28 am
a good defensive presence in the paint
Well, he blocks shots because his arms are really long. But he's pretty far away from being an adequate defender. Stats can fool us - Jason Colins is a much superior defender than he is.
I've no doubt he's a better offensive performer than AK, but the crazy russian is a much better overall player. Defense gives him the nod, no doubt.
With that said, I don't think either to be a cornerstone franchise player, but rather great 2nd bananas.

Pau Gasol is probably as good as Michael Olowokandi in the post. Unless I'm missing something when I see him play.
He's SOFT.

jason colins is one of the better post defenders in the league. that's a quite a comparison you're making, puto
yes you are missing a lot, riot

He's weak for his position, not soft. He's not a banger, but he can score in a variety of ways and be very effective at it. He's certainly no Olowokandi, come on...

Olowokandi has had two double doubles so far this year, including one against Elton Brand and Chris Kaman. It certainly isn't a horrible thing to say.
Pau Gasol is weak and soft. He doesn't go up strong, he doesn't get good position in the post (from what I've seen) and he doesn't assert himself on the boards. He has all the talent in the world but for whatever reason he hasn't been able to turn on that light and become the star that he should be.
Sun Nov 13, 2005 6:03 am
gasol is weak and soft. yet he's in the top 25 in FTA's last year- closely ranked to KG, tim duncan, and ahead of elton brand
or how about KG calling out Gasol to take the ball right at him and gasol proceeds to dunk on garnett
the light is on, but brown was holding him down- gasol has been averagring just over 30 minuttes while brown was there. also gasol plays in the same conference as duncan, garnett, brand, dirk. pretty tough to beat out perennial all nba 1st teams and those other studs
where's mafia

I'm gonna agree with gordon here.
I think fantasy thinking has gotten so big that people think AK is easily better. Gasol is miles ahead of AK on offense, and AK is miles ahead of Gasol on defense. However, Gasol is an excellent passer out of the post, his assist numbers will go way up this year because of Eddie Jones and Damon Stoudamire, in fact they already are going up.
Both players are good offensive rebounders, but of what I have seen, AK makes more of his offensive boards then Kirilenko does. AK often tries to reset or take a stupid shot, while Gasol rebounds the ball and puts it back up.
I think Gordon already covered the rest.

erm...
i agree with what you said though - Ak is much better def, Pau is much better offence, and as for all-round, id say theyre pretty much even.
