the lakers are a team that wants to be legendary.
winning 3 isnt enough, not even 4. if they want to be the greatest team in history, they have to surpass the bulls by winning at least 4 more in the next 5 years, and by equalling the 60's celtics with 8 consecutive. remember the bulls thee-peated twice with two years inbetween without jordan. if jordan had stayed, the likelyhood of the bulls having gone 8 in a row was very possible.
the lakers can accomplish this, especially if they play the free agent market well enough. (pippen next year maybe?) kobe is a three time champion at an age where MJ hadnt even won one yet, and he's getting better. shaq will still be dominant for years to come. i think that as long as he feels capable of playing dominantly, he will continue to play... at least the five years it takes to make his name rank up with russell, and long enough for the comparasins between kobe and jordan to come full circle. kobe's not jordan, but someday his name will be spoken in the same breath as jordans, a close second greatest of all time maybe.
it would be stupid for this team to break apart, kobe thrives on the attention shaq draws, and shaq benifits greatly from kobe being there too. they are the best inside outside combination i dare say, maybe ever.
shaq will play 5 more, and kobe will be the man after that.... with a whole lotta rings so long as grand master phil is running the show. (who, if the lakers do this will be the greatest coach of all time)
but thats just my opinion.
unless vc finally reaches his potential (im really wanting to like the guy)and toronto drafts lebron....
next jordan and pippen yo
biggest IF i ever thought of....
