Celtics made a mistake....

Fri Sep 09, 2005 10:24 am

I thing that the Celtics made a mistake of not grabbing TMac, when McGrady said he doesnt want to re-sign with ORL, the Celts should have thrown ORL, Pierce, Blount(since he was good then), Banks and a few first rounders for TMac and Garrity to even Salary. Maybe Pierce, Blount, and Ricky.

Hindsights a b!tch like that

Why take McGrady now when you can have him younger, cheaper, and with a better shooter in Gerald Green?

Well, that's at least what most people think.

Fri Sep 09, 2005 10:45 am

exactly.. boston moves of late are all about giving their young potential stars the centre stage.. I for one hope it pans out for them

only thing I'm pissed about is that if you're giving away talent don't give it to ur own conference or stacked teams.. unless of course toine turns out to be the curse that everyone's saying he is and he's the undoing of miami.. if that happens no harm no foul

LOL gerald Green wont be half of McGrady

The Celtics are in rebuilding mode. Although I hate to see Pierce out of Boston, they are doing what's best for the team and at this stage is to get young guys and make them stars.

Read the bold, I have my doubts about Green as well. I'm just stating that most people are constantly making comparisons between him and McGrady. Qyntel Woods was also labelled as "another Tracy McGrady" and was one of the top prospects of the draft. He's sure turned out like a superstar.........

The scouting reports of Green at the Summer League have been mostly negative. Mostly saying he's very raw.

You'd expect that from a high schooler.

Yea but McGrady is only 25, If you traded Pierce for him McGrady is 2 years younger.

Past is past..they dont know before what future lies ahead and who knows?? :!:

this thread makes no sense. you could say that every team in the nba made a mistake besides houston. how about saying orlando made a mistake by not keeping him happy?

you compare gerald green to tmac??? gerald will never be tmac!!! if he turn out to be a good player, its gonna take him a while like 4 or 5 years but never tmac! also he has to player along with pierce which is not good cause he is gonna shoot most of the shots and get most of the minutes!!!

Ugh. The T-mac comparison.

It's slightly valid since they do play a game that is reminicent of eachother. Tall SG/SF's that can do anything, with a silky jumper and good range. Oh... and freakish athleticism. Same height, pretty much the same weight.

So far the comparison holds water. As to Green's potential... we'll know more in a year. But I'm hopeful.

well the Celtics are in a rebuilding mode for one and a half decates now!!!
They made too many mistakes in that span and despite having at least 3 bad times (2 deaths and 1 lost franchise player draft pick if you know what i mean  ) they made things worst themselves...That's why the Celtics at the end of the 2005-2006 season will have their 60th Aniversary in the league and their 20th Aniversary without an NBA title and that's why they resulted to celebrede an Atlantic Division title like they won an NBA Championship

how can anybody say anything like Green is gonna be the next Tmac?? We have not even seen him play a single game of nba basketball. Besides, all those comments about him being a good shooter is just BS (not saying he's not, but we just don't know). We've only seen him shoot high school jumpers, guarded by highschool kids. How can compare that with Tmac shooting in the face of nba players or Tmac scoring 13 points in like 30 seconds to beat the spurs?

Mon Sep 12, 2005 9:21 am

For those people who said Green in the next T-Mac, then you are wrong. It takes years of experiences to get to that level like T-Mac. From I have seem so far, Green is overrated already. Don't judge a player when you even have not seem him played yet.

Mon Sep 12, 2005 9:28 am

Green as the next T-Mac??

Ha. That's funny. Martell Webster will have a better career.

Mon Sep 12, 2005 1:31 pm

maybe he will be the first gerald green?
