Since when could Mckie run the point? They would be silly running him at point.
Although they dont have one at the moment, they have better options than running Mckie there.

I'm surprised to see him get that much. I don't know about him being a point guard fulltime, though since Kobe will be handling the ball most of the time and the Lakers will be running the triangle under Phil they don't need a true point guard (or a player that at least in some way resembles a true point guard).

Aaron McKie may be aging but still not too bad of a player. Good pickup.
