Did i specifically point out thats yours were the annoying and stupid ones???

It was two posts after mine...and since a bunch of people called me stupid for saying that guards would equal Shaq in true one on one...I assumed you were referring to me.

no i didnt, so why make up shit like dat lol.

You never said you weren't referring to me...perhaps specify?

and if you wanna be like that, then one of your comments was definatley annoying, when you said who needs Kobe.........ummm i think every team would like ot have a player like that on there team.

I didn't say that...I'd take Kobe...don't like him, but he's a great player...

Why you gotta start crap like that??

I didn't...you're the one calling people stupid and swearing...if anyone's starting anything it's you...

Maybe we should follow Operation Sports lead...meaning sticky a "Kobe Bryant sucks/rules" thread and then lock everything else...

BTW...a great guard will beat a great big man one-on-one for a few reasons...first of all he can shoot pretty much uncontested threes (if the big man plays up he drives by)...and when the big man gets the ball it's on the perimeter where there's a good chance the guard can strip him. When Nike held the king of the court tourney they invited a number of players of different sizes and positions...the Finals were between two shooting guards...

Dan stated those guys can Guard Shaq, not that they can stop him. Anyone can guard Shaq, even with bad results, that's how it is.

Andrew wrote:Because if they did the same thing every possession, the defense would wise up to it and could position a player to intercept the pass before it got to Shaq. Also, Shaq doesn't play 48 minutes a game, they need to have other options and other plans.

Exactly, also the Lakers have won last 3 times using the same strategy, this time the Lakers are cooking a better dish, which will include other teams trying to stop Kobe and forgetting about Shaq who will always have his numbers, that's when the strategy will get back to old days.

EG, depends on who are you talking about. I don't think there's any guard who can stop a good post PF or C from scoring. You can ask Vince who "(even if you think he has no def, he does)" couldn't do much to stop Garnett in the All-Star, and will happen to Kobe, MJ or T-mac the same thing. If those can't stop Garnett, I guess what would happen against Shaq. Those guards steal the ball when the players are distracted or looking for someone else to pass the ball, they don't steal the ball in the post when the PF or C are in action.

Shooting 3s, well, none of those are 3 point shooters, it's a matter of who day was, if that was their day, maybe they will be hitting those but if not, they will be wasting opportunities. R. Allen, A. Houston, R. Miller, P. Stojakovic, W. Person, S. Kerr, none of those are defensive guys and are the guys who most likely would hit the 3s if they shoot it. If they have to guard a Center or PF, I don't think they will be in advantage.

Didn't watch that tourney but if you are talking about (one on one), that's not the NBA, that's why you have a Center or PF, shooting guards or Point Guards, even Small forwards would play around the 3 line, not Centers & PFs, but notice that the advantage is not the 3 points but the dribbling abilities.

Earl Boykins could beat Shaq one on one...how, you ask?

Well, Boykins can run past Shaq/between his legs and get a layup, plus he has a perimeter shot. Granted, he won't be able to stop Shaq IF Shaq gets to the post, but remember, Shaq has to get to the post from the three point line and he'll be guarded by a perimeter player, albeit a much smaller one. The perimeter player has quicker feet and hands, so they have the advantage on defense when they pass the ball to Shaq. They can take charges, as well. So really, Shaq would have to get to his range of 5 feet or so before he can be effective; he won't be able to post up from the three point line because he'd probably end up losing the ball by the time he got to the three point line.

The only advantage the guards have is ball handling? Not the only advantage, but that ball handling ability and the range of the shooter would force Shaq to play on his feet.

It's a team sport, but that particular question was one on one...in which case the guards have the advantage, unless they're facing Kevin Garnett...

looks like you haven't seen Shaq dribling and taking the ball from side to side in fastbreaks, just like Magic used to, leaving all other guys exclusively guards behind.

Hummmm, Shaq can dribble the ball, but i don't think he can run past Boykins, and problably he could steal the ball.
And Shaq is nothing compared to Magic.

Exactly, it is a foul that would make Boykins wonder if he really wants to be in that position again, so next time I don't think he will try anything but getting out of Shaq's way.
