JJ has the choice of either
1. Money
2. Championship contender

Reminds me of Carlos Boozer having the choice of a playoff contender or money

I wonder how must JJ feel, besides the confusion and GIANT ego-boost.

Their rosters has way too many SG and SF. They should be aftering C and PG.

Just wait a bit, impatient ones... They'll be hitting up the trade market soon enough... Hold your horses.

why would JJ go for money rather then be on a championship team...besides the suns said they would match any offer. JJ would be stupid to go to the hawks.

if he thinks the suns will match the offer then he should take it, then end with the max and stay on the same team.

Color me not surprised, i predicted at least a double digit million offer from some team, i am surprised it's the Hawks, however.

Is Marion worth his contract? Then there's no reason why JJ isn't worth his contract. He's one of the few players that can legitimately play 3 positions, PG/SG/SF. He's the 2nd biggest guy in the Sun's lineup after Amare, and he handles, passes, and shoots like a PG. He's been impossible to keep on the IL, it took broken bones inside his SKULL for him to miss games, and even then he still nailed his free throw.

He's the league's 2nd most accurate sniper at .478 from 3 point land, and everyone else in his class are defensive liabilities while he's a defensive stopper. Looking for a 3 point shooter that can guard the 2-3 spot? Take your pick of defensive walls: Fred Hoiberg, Mobley, Mike Miller, Nash, Jon Barry, Piatkowski, or maybe Jason Kapono!

The Hawks seem to be making one puzzling move after another. That's not to say acquiring Joe Johnson is a bad thing - you could say they're overpaying him but they've got cap space to burn - but when you look at all their moves, they don't seem to mesh together. There really doesn't seem to be any solid plan, it's just wheeling and dealing and ending up with a lot of players who basically play the same position.

If I were JJ, I'd be staying in Phoenix. It's not as though he won't be generously paid and it would seem to be a much better situation to be in.

Joe Johnson can play point, but I envision him as more as a SF/SG swingman first. I'd say that point guard duties for him should be reserved only if you're really desperate.

Sometimes I wonder whether teams just give restricted free agents huge offer sheets just so that their original team will match and screw up their salary cap for years.

Possibly...players certainly use offer sheets as a means of getting the deal they're after.
