Andrew Bynum article @ Page 2 (Insert corny ESPN title here)

There's not just one degree of bust... Diop and Kwame are both busts, but that isn't going to stop Kwame from getting some decent money in free agency this offseason.

Any team that throws a ridiculous amount of money (say, $10 million) at Kwame deserves what they're getting though. It's kind of like drafting a high school player in the first place. If you take the risk when there's a better option, you have to live with the mistake. Though surely Kwame won't be able to get $10 million per year...surely anyone with enough money to make overpriced bids for Kwame Brown will be pursuing one of the top free agents.

Stro was drafted in 2000, Kwame in 2001. Both those drafts had their fair share of disappointments.

Well, I was never drafted in to the NBA, so I didn't think it should come as such a shock that I was older then Bynum.

That is pretty scary that guys my age are being drafted. It almost makes me think the age limit is a good idea j/k.

I was lookin at Bynum's profile and he was putting up some pretty huge numbers in high school, especially rebounding:

2005 Postseason All-Star Games: Tallied nine points and five rebounds in 11 minutes in the McDonald’s High School All-American Game. Scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Gray squad at the Jordan Classic.

Senior (2004-05): Averaged 22.0 points, 16.0 rebounds and 5.0 blocks.

Junior (2003-04): Averaged 17.0 points, 14.0 rebounds and 7.0 blocks.

That is pretty impressive! I know it will be totally different in the NBA but I don't reckon you can write him off with those numbers. Also in the maccas allstar game he got that in 11 mins! What the hell!!!

He's playing against people half his size... this is what i call impressive: named the MVP of the 2003 FIBA Junior World Championships in Greece in July after leading the Aussies to the title ... in eight games in the tournament, averaged 26.3 points, 17.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocked shots per game ... shot 61 percent from the field and 74 percent from the line ... had 22 points and 18 rebounds in a 106-85 win over the USA in the quarterfinals of the medal round

don't know his stats, but from memory, Luc Longley played at New Mexico, in no doubt a high scoring offense which padded his stats....I think he was a #7 pick by Minnesota and was immediately tabbed as a bust and never got rid of that label....being signed by the Bulls saved his career and allowed him to lessen his bust status....his career averages are something like 6 and 6 in NBA, if that....

They have his (Longley) college stats... quite impressive, but he didn't win any of the awards Bogut won. Add to the fact that Longley was in college 4 years, and started playing well in his last 2 years whereas Bogut only played 2 years and starred mostly in the 2nd.

Longley's first 2 college years:

4ppg (Freshman)
13ppg (Soph)

Whereas Bogut's were something like 14ppg (Freshman), 20ppg (Soph)... either ways, I can't wait to see Bynum playing in summer league... or read about it, it'll give us Laker fans some idea of what to expect.

ALSO... I read his draft profile at nbadraft.net, and they mention he has a very nice baby hook... so maybe his skyhook thing isn't TOO far off

that's why Longley was considered a bust....a top college player who achieved not much relative to expectations that come with a #7 pick (I think he went at 7)....and the high octane New Mexico offense must have helped....
