Mobley To Test Free Agent Waters

Postby SkipToMy_Lou on Fri Jul 01, 2005 6:18 pm

Realgm wrote:Guard Cuttino Mobley is an unrestricted free agent after terminating the final year of his contract, the Sacramento Kings said Thursday.

The Kings also extended offer sheets to forwards Darius Songaila and Maurice Evans, making them restricted free agents.

Mobley, acquired in a trade with the Orlando Magic in December, declined a $6.374 million player option for next season. The seven-year veteran, who spent his first six NBA seasons with the Houston Rockets , is among a crowd of potential free-agent shooting guards this summer, including Ray Allen, Michael Redd and Joe Johnson.

Mobley averaged 17.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 43 games last season with Sacramento. He hasn't ruled out a return to Sacramento, but wants to test the market, according to the Kings.

Sacramento is allowed to match any offer made to Songaila and Evans, two valuable reserves who also started a handful of games. Songaila, a second-year pro, averaged 7.5 points and 4.2 rebounds last season, while Evans averaged 6.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in his first NBA action since the 2001-02 season

Does he really think he'll get more than $6.374M? I'm quite doubtful..

I'm sure he can, Atlanta surely would offer him a big contract it's just a question to whether he wants money or to be at a succesfull team.

This is why the Kings drafted Francisco Garcia. Garcia is going to impress.

Yeah, and whos going to pay up? I think Cat will go back to the Kings although he'd be damn good in any team that needs a shooter right now. Maybe Charlotte can sign him? Felton/May/Cat/Meka and whoever else there is could be alright but the Bobcats are going easy so I don't think they'd pay too much.

maybe he isnt looking for a big contract, maybe he just didnt like being at sacramento. I thought it would be cool for him to sign with Cleveland. But he could maybe sign with orlando?

But he could maybe sign with orlando?

Given his best-buddies situation with Steve Francis, this is a real possibility.

Yeah, but if they wanted him, why trade him in the first place?

i think they would learn from their mistake....the deal was obviously bad for both teams. They would be stupid not to let him come back if he wanted to.

I could see it happening. The acquisition of Christie clearly didn't pan out as the Magic would have liked.

I'd love to see Mobley in Toronto to tell ya the truth. Get rid of that faggot Jalen Rose. Ugh. I know it's asking for a lot but it cant be impossible...

It's quite possible with the one-time clause in the new CBA.

what's wrong with Jalen Rose? Other than the huge salary, he's done pretty well for the raptors. He's stepped up many times, and he likes Toronto.

Mobley will probably return to the Kings after he realizes no one will pay him more than 6.374 million and will all be happy
