Well, only 20 hours to go until the draft commences... we'll know soon enough...

Now if we Warriors could somehow trade for the no. 2 pick... baaah, wishful thinking...

I'm really nervous about the draft, because I think the draft could be a factor in our title this season.

The first thing is, I'm afraid Larry is going to make a big trade. I don't want a big trade unless its the one for Allen and Ridinour. I think the team we are going to put out next year without that trade is good enough to win a ring.

I know I proposed that Damon Jones trade, but to be honest, I just want a quiet Pacers draft. I just want to pick up McCants or Garcia, maybe Diogu or May and be done.

That said I competely trust Larry and Donnie to put together the best team possible.

Hey man am nervous as well. You never know what the Raptors will do tomorrow. Hopefully everything goes good and Raptors make a trade that would help their franchise alot.

I know that's wishful thinking, but still Ray Allen + a decent rebounding PF for 3 mediocre players at best, is a little too wishful in my eyes. Plus I don't see room for an LBJ/Ray-Ray combo on one team, not to mention Eddy Curry and Drew Gooden who can score at least decently well but would never get the ball.

Its all possible......

but unlikely. worst case scenario, the bulls will do a sign and trade with curry to ensure they get something back for him. the bulls can offer him the highest contract

impose: probably a % of curry's contract will be insured and as reported in another thread he's awfully close to being cleared to play... should alleviate any concerns.

besides- a frontline of chandler and frye

since this draft is supposedly 'deep', i think paxson will find a way to acquire to a 2nd round pick. whether it would be by cash or future 2nd round pick

I hope the Lakers-Blazers trade goes down, so we can pick Deron Williams. But it seems Portland is leaning towards the trade with Utah, according to Ric Bucher...I hate that guy and I hope he's wrong...but if it's true, then the Lakers should get May at 10 (Frye if he somehow slips, which probably isn't happening), Turiaf at 37, and either Gilchrist, Luther Head, Nate Robinson, or Monta Ellis at 39. And if the trade with Indy goes down, we should definitely get Jack.

I just want the Nets to pick up a PF with their first pick and a PG with the next.

If they want to get some where Collins can not start at PF forever and they have to start thinking about Jason Kidd's future, they might as well pick up a PG with one of their picks since their biggest need is a low post threat.

I know I'm going to hear from someone about picking the best available player instead of drafting a PF. But tell me this, if we draft a PG, SG or SF how much time will they really get to develop behind three guys who will likely play 40+ minutes a game?

I'm hoping the Grizzlies will pick up Sean May. I believe he will be a big steal at the 19th pick and nbadraft.net has Memphis drafted him. I mean he was the NCAA Championship Game MVP. He has to be a steal and when he worked out for Memphis, they were really impressed with his play. Memphis should most likely pick a big man, if they don't then that means they may try to give Wright a new contract. I also like Diogu, Bynum or Blatche.

I'd take Blatche over Bynum anyday.

Draft is about 2-4 years from now, not this year. Both Kobe & McGrady took 4 years to fully develop, and that's what everyone is looking for in the early 1st round, not a roleplayer. And it's not always top 5, Kobe got picked what, #10?

If NJN wants a guy to jump into the starter slots this season they should go after free agents. They make the biggest jump in salary, from $66M this year to $34M next year. The management there did an amazing job of clearing room out.

So NJN can use their 15th pick trying to get a big man who can play right away, which is limited to Fran Vasquez, Sean Mays, and Diogu, or sign one of these free agents:

Zydrunas
Samuel Delambert
Gadzuric
Jerome James
Potapenko
Mutumbo
Ervin Johnson
Shareef Abdur Rahim
Donyell Marshall
Antoine Walker
Stro Swift
Keith Van Horn
Kwame Brown (restricted, but washington will probably not match)
Chris Andersen

Any one of these guys would give a better 1 year performance than the rookies, especially if you're talking playoffs.

I agree, but for crying out loud, not Ervin "aged stiff" Johnson... This is a disgrace...
He's 37 and skilless... :(

Interesting rumor...although it may be just a smokescreen for who they really want.

"According to league sources, the Nets are strongly considering taking McCants with the No. 15 pick. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard averaged 17.6 points at North Carolina, and along with May, helped the Tar Heels win the national championship. "We're going to take who we think is the best player on the board," Nets general manager Ed Stefanski said."

No sane person would do that.

With the 10th pick I'd like the Lakers to select Jarrett Jack
With the 37th pick I'd like the Lakers to select Ronny Turiaf or Lucas Tisher
With the 39th pick I'd like the Lakers to select Jason Maxiell

But we'll see... if they take a forward with the #10 pick replace Tisher/Turiaf with John Gilchrist. He'd be a risk but the reward would be worth it if it works out.

I'd want them to take Raymond Felton at # 10

If he's available I'd prefer Felton at #10 but it's fairly unlikely.

The only threat for teh Lakers would be Charlotte at 5 and Toronto at 7. If he's not snapped by 7, LA can have him, although I doubt they'll pull th etrigger in him since he's the anti-prototype triange PG...

Hey Raps fans, there's a rumor that a Pacers-Raptors trade is going to go down, although I have no idea what players or picks.
