It's all about Shaq's health. When he's healthy, Ben Wallace can't slow Shaq down even remotely. Remember last year? Ben Wallace's coverage of Shaq yielded him going 53 for 84, or 63% field goal percentage. The problem was nobody would give Shaq the ball except Luke Walton.
In game 1 Shaq got 16 looks, made 13 of them. Guess who got 27 looks and made 10, including 1-6 from the arc? Per minute, Derek FISHER got more shots per minute than Shaq. That was pretty much the story for the rest of that series.
*IF* certain Lakers guards would have fed Shaq the ball more Shaq would have continued to destroy Wallace in single coverage, forcing Detroit to double Shaq, and (omg) free up some Lakers for easier shots. As it was, they just let Shaq get his dozen looks, and meanwhile forced the rest of the lakers to the 30% FG shooting.
Miami needs Shaq to some shade of his former self to win this.
