Becuase Yao and T-Mac dont Connect Like Shaq and Kobe did

Kobe and Shaq --> did not connect
T-Mac and Yao --> seem to connect a little better so far

It's McGrady's team though, answering the question this thread is about. In a couple of years though, Yao and T-Mac (+a good supporting crew) could make a nice run in the postseason. A dynasty isn't born in 1 year.

About Yao being just another Rik Smits, that's probably true. But from where Smits came from, he had a very good career, even hit some game-winning shots!

Im talking about when Kobe and Shaq first got together. Every teamates faught one time or another. MJ and Pippen got into fights. But T-Mac and Yao dont know how to Communicate. Like those guys did. Shaq and Kobe just didnt last as long as Pippen and MJ did thats all.

What's with all the hating on Rik Smits? He was a good center. And Yao does have a mid-range shot.

Yao played much better last season with Steve Francis at the point.

The problem with Yao is the hype about him, people expect so much from him - that he will be the next dominant center, the next aggressive rebounder etc etc. But he's just not that. He'll never be as dominant as Shaq, as skilled as Olajuwon. He's a different breed of center. He's average in defense, decent in offense: skilled shooter, good passer, average blocker, and average rebounder. Leadership wise, he is also not that good of a leader because of the culture he was brought up to. Remember when he entered the league he thought it was disrespectful to dunk! When it comes to leadership, it will have to be TMac's responsibility. TMac has a lot to learn as a leader, things that probably he never learned (or given a chance to learn) in Orlando.

They're just on their first season together. They'll learn with time how each other plays, and hopefully that will made both of them better (and the players around them).

The Rockets without Yao are better than Orlando. There's Barry, Sura, Wesley, Mutombo...
