All-Star Weekend??

Postby Jona on Mon Feb 07, 2005 3:04 pm

I have been asking everyone I know but nobody knows for sure...
How do the players get selected to be in the all-events like the 3 Pt Shootout or the Dunk contest??
Do they pay them??
Do they sign in voluntarily??
Can Eric Dampier go to the 3 Pt Shootout??
Can Earl Boykins go to the Dunk Contest??
Huh :?: :?: :?:

3 Pt. Contest is determined by 3 Point % and the # of 3's made
They invite people until they get enough for the Competition

I dont know about the Dunk Competition, maybe its like that All*Star game and they have people vote on it?
and then invite those people until the get enough to accept

I think with Dunk contest, a bunch of NBA executives must sit in front of a screen to check out the biggest dunks so far and look at past reports on players who are entertaining and write up a sdhortlist of players they want to invite and ask those players if they wanna compete....

a lil off topic, so sorry. can boykins really dunk? i've seen him tap the backboard (he did it with golden state, one his his "breakout games"). not necessarily a tap, but he layed it up and i could see the back of his hands touching the backboard with ease

I think he can MAYBE slap the rim barely but i doubt he can get high enough to dunk, That would be some serious Hops
