Baron in trade?

Thu Jan 06, 2005 4:53 pm

appanrtly, the grizz have talked to hornets bout B Diddy for J Williams and Shane Battier but Jerry West says deal would never happen cause Battier is reliable post player...

Also says Indiana and Clipperrs were in trade talkks...

Will he finally move?

if I were West and this trade scenario is possible, then I'd make the deal....I think Baron could flourish with a team like the Grizz.....he'd be an upgrade of Jason Williams.... whilst Battier is solid, Grizz have too many SF's.....if he liked Battier so much, why the heck did he sign Cardinal to long deal....with Posey, Battier, Cardinal at SF and Miller, Wells and Jones at SG they are stacked....

so I say make the deal....

The Clips were trying to get a little sneaky trade in, they were offering little with Jaric, Kittles, and Rebracca, but the Hornets wanted Wilcox, and if something was to go down it would've been more like Wilcox, Kittles, 1st Round pick for Baron.

In some ways I wish West could do the deal and in some ways I wish he wouldn't. I would rather for us to trade Bonzi or Wright in the deal instead of Battier because if you watch Battier in Grizz games, he does alot for the team. He played PF for us in big games and he didn't exactly lock KG down, but he did cause him to get mad and make mistakes and it got us the win. He does so much for the team and I wouldn't want us to trade him. In some ways I wish he would do it because we do have Cardinal, but Cardinal has been getting hurt alot so I wouldn't rely on hims that much and Posey isn't playing that great right now even though he was playing good a little while back. I know Baron and Watson are best friends because they grew up together and they went to UCLA together so that would be a great PG duo. Hopefully the Grizz can still work something out wtih Wright and maybe a 1st rounder or Bonzi.

BD is a scoring point, they dont need that in Memphis. They need a pure point guard...J-Will isnt what they need either.

I don't think Indiana has any firepower to offer for Baron Davis.

For Memphis, they should counter with:

Jason Williams
Bonzi Wells

Baron Davis

Some scrub players would needed to be included to match the salary cap.

he doesn't HAVE to play PG, but we are an all-around unselfish team anyway. even if we put him at PG, we would still have the same amount of shots for everyone else and considering the main reason Baron shoots so much is because of the team he is on. if he has more options like he would in memphis then things might be a little different with players like pau, miller, posey, and many more. they could put watson at pg and baron at sg as well and just have a small backcourt, but idk and don't want to get too head of myself because no deal might not happen which i hope it does in a way

I remember BD in college, he likes to score, not cuz he has to. It might work, but I dont think it would.
