Chris Paul reuniting with Clippers for 21st NBA season

Free agent point guard Chris Paul has agreed to a deal with the LA Clippers for his expected final, 21st NBA season, CAA's Steven Heumann, Ty Sullivan and Jessica Holtz told ESPN.

Paul, 40, had multiple suitors such as the Milwaukee Bucks, Charlotte Hornets and Dallas Mavericks, but the 12-time All-Star chose the contending Clippers and their shared history in Los Angeles. Paul told "The Pat McAfee Show" in June that he was determined to play his 21st season near his family, who live in Los Angeles.

Like Dame going back to Portland, it's a little surprising as far as looking to the past while building/re-tooling for the future, but it's cool to see all the same.

I do wonder if Paul will become more of a player/assistant coach role with the Clippers this season as he can learn a lot from Tyronn Lue. I could see Paul wanting to get into coaching in some capacity (maybe not in the NBA but high school or college).

It's possible, but my guess is that he still wants to start and have a significant role, which doesn't usually go hand-in-hand with player-coach roles. That does make his return to the Clippers surprising, but like I said, it's still cool to see.
