On one hand he has a contract to honour, but given his condition and advancing age I have to sympathise with Zo. It would be a different story if the Nets hadn't dismantled their team in the offseason as they could still be considered a legitimate contender, perhaps not his best shot at a championship but certainly in a better position than most of us expect them to be in this season.

I agree that he has to show that he stands a good chance of being able to play pretty much the whole season and playoffs for a contender to feel it's worth taking the risk, but I think his current performance would be fine given that he'd likely be coming off the bench as he is in New Jersey. 12 ppg, 2.7 bpg and 5.7 rpg in 19.3 mpg is appealing enough for a title contender to consider getting him to be their backup centre, the chance that he could be once again forced out of the game is the more pressing issue.
