It's been over for the Knicks. All the good feeling from last season is gone. This franchise reminds me of that old 70s song by Maxine Nightingale, "Right Back to Where We Started From".

You know This' M.O. by now....he doesn't play the young guys enough.

We are not going to playoffs that's for sure so no reason why obi should be playing 11 minutes... 8 minutes ... Etc same with Grimes and McBride and Sims getting DNPCD's all the time while Kemba, Taj and Burk play major minutes it's time to teach the young core a lesson on court Thibs

Everything I've heard about the All-Star Weekend so far is that it's been a complete disaster. Glad I haven't bothered with it, though it's a shame. I used to love the All-Star Weekend, but over the past decade or so, it's really gone down the toilet.

Agree 100%, especially the dunk contest. I wish they'd eliminate it. Let's be honest, it was downhill after Vince anyway.

Remember years ago they brought in the 2ball contest instead if the dunk contest? I honestly switch off now from the allstar weekend for better or worst I have no regrets

Ok so I decided to watch the allstar game... I last the first quarter I honestly don't see how that is entertainment each to there own and yeah Steph hit 16 3's... He does that in practice we have seen him hit this amount in a row no missed shots and that's what the allstar came is practice a very very weak assed practice

A lot of people love ELAM, but it's just not for me. I get the idea and late game fouling can be a problem, but it speaks volumes that it didn't used to be necessary for the All-Star Game to be competitive. Stats and highlights are also more enjoyable when there's some semblance of defense being played.

Also, hitting a shot to reach a target score when you're already up by one isn't a gamewinner; not in the usual sense of that term, anyway. Just putting that out there.

I'm just going throw DeMar DeRozan out there as a dark horse candidate for MVP, especially if the Bulls keep winning.

Bucks got the job done in the end, as you'd expect of the defending champions. Bulls at least played a lot better this time. That Derrick Jones Jr. dunk was nasty. Loved it.

A good matchup tonight, Cavs at Bulls. Bulls are at the 4 seed, Cavs at 6.

I've been watching the Lakers from Wilt to Kareem & Magic to Shaq & Kobe to Kobe & Pau to this. I don't ever remember them being this embarrassing, smdh.

Poor Russ. At this point, they need to take him out back like Old Yeller. KAT's reaction on that airball was priceless...he was like, where'd that wind gust come from?

This is why I don't like the play-in tournament. There will potentially be teams at least 10 games under .500 in tenth place having a chance at getting into the Playoffs. That shouldn't happen. If you're not in the top eight outright after 82 games, you haven't earned a spot.

The play-in has value as a replacement for the numerical tiebreakers. That would be exciting! But you don't punish seventh and eighth seeds who have played well enough throughout the season to make it into the top eight by forcing them to defend that spot at the end of the year against teams that missed out. It's gimmicky, and unnecessary.

I'll admit that I haven't been as enthusiastic about the NBA in recent years. Despite having access to watch at least 3-4 games a week, I've found it difficult to find the motivation. It's hard not to sound like a "bitter old head" when I grumble about the current style of play, but honestly, I don't find the modern game as appealing to watch. People can talk trash all they want and say "Oh, so you'd rather see final scores of 85-80?", to which I'd say...yes, if it means actual defense is being played! I'll take games with final scores in that 90-105 point range with spirited defense and well-played offense, over games that end 145-140 where there's no defense and players are just walking it up and chucking threes without making a single pass. Because for all the talk of "evolved offense" and "advanced ball movement", that happens an awful lot.

With that being said...I really enjoyed last year's NBA Finals, so I'm going to be trying to catch as much of this year's Playoffs. I'd like to be proven wrong, and have a blast watching my favourite sport again. It's a shame that the regular season has gone from being this wild ride to something people want to make shorter, but the postseason is a different animal, so hopefully it'll be fun to watch throughout. I don't want to be that grumpy old man (especially at the age of 37) where I can only enjoy what I grew up watching, but it's been tough to enjoy the style of play that's developed from around 2014 onwards. Still, my favourite team is in the Playoffs, and that always helps in getting invested in what's going on. I'm going to give it a try.

I'll take that sentiment and one-up it... the Cavs' play-in loss might've ruined the postseason for me, which I usually love. It's all fun and games until a 9/10 gets the upset and makes the playoffs... then it feels gross. Trae Young has his season salvaged by a stupid gimmick and has the audacity to wave goodbye to the Cleveland crowd... it's just gross. He shouldn't even be there in the first place. Play-in is dumb, or playoffs need to be reconfigured. Cavs have a magical season (ruined by injuries but it was still good), finish 44-38 and miss the playoffs while the 36-46 Pelicans make it... what the hell. That's a problem.

Cavs have a really unique team with Markkanen, Mobley and Allen all starting (when not injured)... I just wanted to see how they would pan out in a full series, but no. The opening day roster uninjured could've been a legitimate title contender and beaten any team -- it was just a really bizarre collection of players that worked.

The Clippers actually have it worse as the Pelicans are considerably worse; Paul George gets Covid and is out for one game and it ends the entire season when they earned the 8 seed.

It's just like, you have these massively imbalanced sample sizes of an 82-game season, 2 play-in games, and 7-game series'.

I haven't really seen many salty Clippers fans online, but this really hurt as a Cavs fan. I haven't been this gutted over a loss in over 10 years, cause it just doesn't feel right. We were robbed for the NBA's little darling.

Exactly! The Play-in is terrible. If you're not in the top eight outright after 82 games, you haven't earned a spot. Simple as that. As you said, it's valuing the results of two games over 82. It rewards teams for finishing 9th and 10th, while punishing teams that finish 7th and 8th. It needs to go.

I don't blame you at all for losing interest in the Playoffs after that. I'd feel the same way.

Nets/Celtics is setting up to be a classic series. Boston's defense on that last Brooklyn was perfect, and not calling a timeout was the right move.

Give the Bulls credit for never giving up and coming back. If they shot better in the fourth quarter, maybe they could have stolen that game.

Chris Paul can't catch a break. Every time he gets close to winning a title, something happens, like Lucy taking the football away just as Charlie Brown's about to kick it.

I can't see Phoenix winning the title, or even getting past the Warriors without a healthy Book.

Definitely. The "no timetable for his return" prognosis isn't encouraging at all. Speaking of the Warriors, Curry coming off the bench to put up 25 ppg in 22 mpg through Game 2 is wild to see.

Nice bounce back by the Bulls in Game 2...Derozan was killing it from midrange! I do think Milwaukee gets a split in Chicago.

Nets down 0-2...very impressed with Boston's defense on Durant. Shaq calls it "touching him up", lol.

Very disappointed in Philly's performance. Embiid did all he could despite his injuries, but where the hell was James Harden?????? That trade turned out to be a disaster for both teams. Philly traded Ben Simmons for a cat who had a Ben Simmons-like performance. You can't make this s***up.

Big Sunday treat for NBA fans, back-to-back Game 7s. I'm going with the home teams.
