Recently I have bought a couple of magazines that give predictions and give reviews for every team.

And almost every review that I read about teams said something like "This year they are looking to play defense first" or "They are trying to sign players who can play defense".

So looks like NBA teams are also 'jumping on the bandwagon', although you can't blame them since teams that have made or won the finals the past couple of years were strong defensive teams (Detroit, San Antonio, New Jersey etc.).

This isn't a new trend. The Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons who are other teams that won the title in the last 15 years were also very good defensive teams. It's been said all along that defense wins championships. Bill Russell's Celtics anyone?

Defense always wins

Celtics.....Detroit, Chicago, Houston, SAS, Lakers, Detroit

Anyway, I think Colin made a good point about supporting teams. When I first started getting into the NBA i didn't want to be a part of the Jordan Bandwagon ( I was anyway) so I tried to look for someone that I like watching. That just happened to be Grant Hill and Joe Dumars. Ever since I was a Detroit Pistons fan. In addition, it also happens to be that Detroit play the type of basketball that I love watching/playing. It's deliberate, structured, grind-it-out slug fest. Sure, at times it's ugly to watch offensively but nothing is more satisfying than an excellent defensive performance

As far as being a fan goes. Is there any Clipper fans out there? I mean, this is a franchise that DOESN'T want to win? How could anybody want to support this? At least GSW are trying to make strides in the right direction, Atlanta is trying (loosely) to rebuild also.

On the Eddie Griffin issue, no doubt the kid has talent but he's troubled. IMO it would be best for him to play in a small market city where he can get into less trouble.

The Mavs are looking to play more defensivley? Hornets changing to defense first, Golden State?

A lot of teams are beginning to change their philosophies after what Detroit did in the Finals.
