To me, watch a Wolves vs. Spurs game. KG dominates the WHOLE game at more than one area. He controls the game in more ways than Duncan does, making him the better player in my eyes.

Duncan dominates the paint but KG can dominate so many other areas, which make him more valuable and better.

It's all fine & dandy that KG can involve his other team-mates but you talk as if TD doesn't do the same thing. He can pass just as well.

Let me put it this way, TD can do everything KG at the same level, BUT...TD dominates in a fashion KG can not.

Duncan can do what KG does?

Duncan can hit a 18 footer yes, but i'm not talking about that. I'm talking his active defense, defense against smaller guys, his athletism, his ball handling skills, he can play every positions, he can dominat the paint defensively and starting to get a some good go-to post moves.

if Paker and Ward went down would Duncan be the point guard? would Duncan be guarding Kobe? Would Duncan be playing 5 on 2 basically? Would Duncan be running out at the open guy on the corner? then run back get the rebound then bring the ball up the court, set up the offense and then be the go-to-guy on offense? That was a typical KG play, don't tell me Duncan can do that.

I never said duncan can't do that. Duncan is a great passer but KG is a better passer due his more polished skills and athletism.

You claim KG doesn't get as many rebounds on the offensive end because Flip's (looky, we're on a first name basis) system doesnt need him to do that. How do you know that? Are you in the huddle? Does he specifically say: Hey KG, don't you crash those boards mister or I'll hand you a spanking.

I doubt it, to grab offensive boards you need to be able to box out really well, I think KG isn't that strong to box out the opposing teams center. Duncan can.

Duncan's basketball IQ is much higher than KG's. He always knows what he's going to do & how it will work out before he does it. He threw the ball up and caught it while everyone was looking around etc & just shot it in.

Your definition of having more heart is just that, your definition. You can't use YOUR opinion and say that Duncan has less heart than KG. That's something you cannot meassure. Well, Duncan isn't as quick as KG, that's why he can't guard players like Kobe, but he's stronger, so he can guard players like Shaq and KG can't. Duncan is not athletic as KG is, but he can still get his 20+ points and 12+ rebounds because he's a great player, better than Garnett. Duncan also can be the PG, when Parker is getting too wild to handle the ball, TD can bring the ball upcourt and star the ball movement. Of course he wouldn't guard Kobe, Manu or Bowen do that .

Duncan dominates the paint which rare these days which is great! he is a great player and I'd love to have him on my team. KG dominates all over the court.

So really, it's take your pick. You guys take Duncan and I respect that and I take Garnett but you don't don't respect that. Stat-wise at this time they are similar but it's the past that is foggy. Duncan has had the best past with, agruably, the better team. I'm just saying I don't want to put that all on KG's shoulders. He is the star, he should get most of the blame but you can't blame him for the Joe Smith under-the-table deal, the Brandon injury, googs leaving, marbury wanting out, ect, ect. Duncan and KG are great and it depends on what you want.

Both are great leaders. Both have heart. Both can dominate in different ways. Both are team guys. KG can play more positions and is more athletic and Duncan can dominate the post way better.

I don't have anything against KG, I love him. He's the most versatile player today.

But looking at achievements & the way TD dominates opposed to KG, I'd be inclined to pick Duncan. It's your choice to pick KG, I think we can both respect that and leave it at that.

Actually, this thread has helped me. I also looked forwarded to reading this post and I'm a bigger fan of Duncan. i wateched the Olympic games on Saturday and I watched Duncan more closely than ever. This thread has helped me and I enjoyed vocing my opinion. I lost this agrument but I still have the same opinion, as do you. But as we both have noticed, this thread wasn't a waste and i think everyone enjoyed it.
