Hehehehe, this is my pick:

Backcourt 2000- Jason Kidd and Penny Hardaway. Wow, remember the hype surrounding that one?

Chandler and Curry

Wed Aug 11, 2004 8:11 pm

^^^I remember both saying that they would be competting for ROY. haha

I think they lacka veteran mentor to show them the way. It's the blind leading the blind

Kenny Anderson & Derrick Coleman & Drazen Petrovic:

All that talent but they didn't get very far. After the passing of Petrovic the rest of the Nets fell apart like... well today's Nets. The pairing of Anderson and Coleman in particular didn't quite live up to the hype. Coleman was traded for Shawn Bradley for christ's sake! I don't know if they ever made the playoffs together, but it doesn't look likely considering Coleman only has 30-odd career playoff games and those would have been played with Charlotte and Philly if anyone. Anderson has also played only 30-odd playoff games and those would have come with Portland and Boston.

JJJ

Remember these fools back in Dallas? Jason Kidd, Jimmy Jackson and Jamal Mashburn. That fell apart rather quickly, as some people will argue over pussy... "Money" and "Shots" probably played a part too.

Robinson/Baker

Again all that promise and talent, and they went nowhere. To be fair I think the Bucks were always pretty thin for the few seasons this due was together. Both of them became the player who never quite fulfilled his potential.

Ron Mercer and Elton Brand... isn't anybody else shocked that Mercer only managed to score 20ppg for like one season?! :P

LOL.

LJ & ZO.

Like someone already mentioned, Larry Johnson and Alonzo Morning, what a duo! This saddens me, because those Hornets were tough. Zo, LJ, a prime time Dell Curry and Hersey Hawkins, Mugsy, hell even a servicable Cheif Parish! Of course LJ screwed his back and the 20/10 undersised beast of a PF was gone. Zo bolted and the Hornets new duo was Glen Rice and Divac, followed by Eddie Jones and Elden Campbell

There could have been a duo of Michael Jordan and Shawn Kemp too right? LOL Jordan probably would have been spewing if the Bulls picked up a high school kid in 87.

Stackhouse and Iverson.

Ralph Sampson and Hakeem were broken up prematurely due to injuries.

Raps' 99-04

Vince Carter - Shawn Marion - Andrei Kirilenko - Tracy McGrady

But Toronto drafted Bender at 5 (traded for Antonio Davis) and Radojevic at 12

99 - Lineup
Kevin Willis, Charles Oakley, Vince Carter, Doug Christie, Tracy McGrady, Dell Curry, Alvin Williams, Dee Brown, Muggsy Bogues

And the duo I like most:

Big Ticket + Spree!
But they could be Warriors, IF GS drafted KG instead of Joe Smith and IF Spree never raised hands against Carlesimo ;)

But I have to admit, that I really enjoyed the real 97-Warriors with NBA Live '97 (with Mitch Richmond on the cover :) ). I played an entire season with my team and made the Championship with 4-2 over the Bulls. Ahh, good old days... 100+ games in real time and with mouse

Yea, Triple J was pretty hyped, but I guess they were still a pretty young group though, and a couple of losing seasons didn't help.

Grant Hill + Ankle Surgery

The whole Warriors team of the early 90s, I think they had Webber, Tim Hardaway and Sprewell together at one point. That was a pretty mean team.

Just a random off topic thing.... but I just remembered that year when Magic Johnson and Dominique Wilkens made comebacks to the NBA.

Because having 3 SFs and a SG wins championships?

would have been fun to see though :D

malone and stockton, in the sense they were unbale to win anything, that tandam right there was the shit!

penny hardaway and shaq, why the fuck did he leave then only to go back to florida where he lives and loves?

gary payton and shawn kemp, kemp fell the fuck off tho, remember some of them alley oops back in the day?

allen iverson and larry hughes is an interesting one, larry hughes was quality during his rookie season off the bench, but could you imagine the ammount of rebounds with both of them two playing.

van exel, eddie jones, kobe bryant, shaq, didnt all of them players get voted to the all-star game one year?

Sat Aug 14, 2004 6:33 am

iverson and hughes never got along well thats why larry was traded. they couldnt play together.

shaq left to go play for the lakers cause for some reason he thought he was also an actor and being there would help him in that career too. he had a good team down the orlando but he bolted. of course he has his rings so what does he care now.

That's correct, the 1998 All-Star game in New York. Shaq and Kobe were voted as starters while NVE and Jones were named as reserves.

Sun Aug 15, 2004 12:44 pm

you know, i would love to see the nba go to a system where only the players, coaches, and media types got to vote for all stars. i am sure i am totally against the grain here, but i would like to see those who performed the best have a chance to be in an all star game.

btw sorry for going a bit off topic.

Sun Aug 15, 2004 12:59 pm

I can see the logic, but I think it's good for the fans to make sure a player they want to see make the All-Star team has an opportunity to do so. Perhaps the ballot should be compiled a few weeks into the season rather than before the season begins.

Sun Aug 15, 2004 1:58 pm

Shawn Kemp, Scottie Pippen, Rasheed Wallace, Damon Stoudamire and others.

When Kemp got traded to the Portland Trailblazers, I thought it would be over, there is no way a team is going to beat a combo of Kemp/Wallace and Pippen, no way.

Well, "daddy" as many might call him didnt bring in what we all expected and was gaining more weight and childeren then he was gaining his season avarages. Imagine him in his prime on that team, and afterall...he wasnt THAT bad at all when he left the Cleveland Caveliers.

Sun Aug 15, 2004 10:16 pm

Ai and Ben wallace (Matt Geiger had a trade kicker and rejected the trade, i think him and Iverson would go to D for Stackhouse or something like that)

Mon Aug 16, 2004 8:25 pm

yes i agree about the voting issue, it should be based on stats rather then hype if you know what i mean, it should be done by a shortlisting system 5 players for each posistion in each conference and then the fans can vote on them or something similar.....

i always thought iverson liked hughes

Tue Aug 17, 2004 6:23 am

for instance(voting issue), yao was voted all star starter as a rookie over shaq(last year too IIRC) and shaq was easily the better player. now i like yao alot more but he didnt belong in that starting lineup. its the all star game not the viewers choice game.

Mihkel Tsordan and Scott Pibben
