Hassell to Portland?

Sun Jul 25, 2004 6:39 pm

Trenton Hassell has signed an offer sheet from Portland for $27 million and 6 years.
The Wolves have 15 days to match that offer.

If the Timberwolves are willing to match it, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to do so. On the offensive end he's not all that consistent but he can score a little if needed. He's a much better defender than a scorer. With some of the other offseason signings $4.5 mil doesn't sound too unreasonable, and the Timberwolves aren't exactly in a position to clear $20 million of cap space - they can afford to slightly overpay.

unless theres a better player out there the Twolves should deffinately match it. It would be a shame to lose a good player when your close to some real success. Twolves aren't deep enough to afford a loss

I think the T-Wolves will match. My memory has turned foggy on this, but I believe they said something about how they will match unless it's full MLE. Hassell would be a great for the Blazers if they could get rid of DA or some of those other crappy outside shooters. I believe Artest called him the best wing defender in the league, or 2nd best (obviously behind himself).

The wolves should want to match it. The reason IMO that they're so quiet this Summer is because they want to keep the same team as last year.

Hassell wil stay in Minny this year

Wise choice. My opinion hasn't changed:
