Region 4 NBA DVDs

Postby Andrew on Sun Aug 01, 2004 5:03 pm

Some news for my fellow Australians. Although PonTel remains the best source for classic games as well as games from the latest season (if you don't have pay TV or know someone that does ;)), they don't stock a wide range of highlight and profile DVDs and videos.

According to michaeldvd.com.au, Michael Jordan: His Airness has been released for Region 4. As far as I can tell, MichaelDVD.com.au does not sell any DVDs, so we'll still have to hunt a little for them (and most likely buy them online).

NBA: Dunks! is due for release for R4 October 30th, 2004. NBA: Ankle Breakers is also due for release the same day. Please note that those are tentative dates.

Of course, if you have a DVD player that will play discs coded for every region, you can simply order those DVDs from the US.

Hopefully someone apart from me finds this news interesting and useful. ;)

That's true, but it's more comfortable for me to watch DVDs through my DVD player or the PS2 rather than my PC. ;)

I thought there was an NBA store in Sydney (or possibly Melbourne). If so, they might take phone or web orders and mail the merchandise to the customer.

That's the one. Might be worth driving down to Sydney to check it out. ;)

Unfortunately not - there was no release for the Bulls Dynasty set, either. I'm guessing the R4 version won't be available for some time (if at all).

I purchased a multi-region DVD player at JB HiFi today for $179, so I'll be ordering the Chicago Bulls Dynasty boxset and the NBA Dunks DVD from the States. If you're looking to get a new DVD player, I would definitely suggest getting a multi-region player.

Sounds good, I'll have to keep an eye out for it. (Y)

In the meantime, I've ordered some R1 DVDs from the States now that I've got a multi-region player: the Bulls Dynasty Boxset, NBA Dunks, the Ultimate Jordan collection and Michael Jordan to the Max.
