I guess they really wanted to get rid of Kittles. It's basically the same story as the K-Mart trade. It's a deal that looks very bad for New Jersey until such time that it proves to have paved the way for some grander plan.
It's plainly obvious for everyone to see that their 'grander plan', is to own every single draft pick in next years draft.

I think the Kittles trade was done to get below the luxury tax level as well.
Also, Chandler had a stretch where he had like 17ppg 13rpg before his injury. Definately #2 numers.

One strecth of 17 ppg and 13 rpg doesnt justify being the number 2 pick. If he does it for a season, i'll shut up

Come on, the Yankees probably wouldn't have to give up that much to complete the first inter-sport trade.
