I think that the Lakers have as much chance of being as good as at least Sacramento (from last few seasons) now that they have Divac and quite a deep team with Brian Grant probably on the bench now and Devean George, Kareem Rush, Luke Walton and the other young players (including the rookie who looks to be wuite good from the summer league). I think that the Lakers have a very good chance of making the playoffs after the signing of Divac.

Kobe fans proclaim him to be the shiznit & other fans say Shaq was of importance & (was) still the franchise player.

After giving them facts, having opinions from others (non Kobe fans I mean), even converting one to see that Shaq was and would've remained the more valuable player on the Lakers' Team, yet...they just say, no no, bye bye.

If I'm going to get responses like that & don't even have someone like Sit participate in those threads, what's the use?

Steve04, I can have a discussion with him because he brings valid points pointing out both the weaknesses & strengths of Bryant, someone like Sit will come into the thread and post something like "Yeah, I agree" and bam, he's gone. One liners don't make for good discussion, nor do blind love. Some Kobe fans (the very rare kind like Gamewiz) have the ability to point out their idol's weaknesses, Sit & Co, can't.

I think it's messed up that people are going around repeating UNFOUNDED rumor as FACT. There is a difference. There is absolutely no documented evidence that Kobe was behind Shaq and Phil's departure. Kobe himself admitted he at times clashed with both but would not have minded playing the rest of his career with either. Shaq is gone because he felt disrespected by Jerry Buss and in turn disrespected him and was shipped away. Phil Jackson is gone because of personal issues with Buss, and probably Kobe. Check your facts and don't believe everything you hear just because it sounds best to your ears.

I think Phil Jackson left first. That was HIS decision. If Phil leaves, Shaq leaves too, said Shaq. So then Shaq ASKED to be traded because Phil left (and also problems vs management). I don't think Kobe was the one that planned this all out... it just happened to go his way, so he decided to stay.

As far as I know, the Phil thing was Jerry Buss's decision, in order to please Kobe to resign him, and the Shaq trade was because of the Phil thing... it's all politics...
