The focus of the story is Kurt Thomas on the trading block, but it also mentions the Mavs trying to get Carter.
Here's some of the story that talks about VC & Dallas:
NY Daily News wrote:A more complicated deal would have Thomas as part of a four-team trade that would center around Vince Carter moving from Toronto to Dallas.
The Knicks' side of the deal would include multiple players, with Thomas ending up in Dallas or Golden State and Shandon Anderson going to Toronto. The Knicks would be getting Antoine Walker from Dallas and Erick Dampier from Golden State.
Toronto and Dallas are recruiting several teams in an effort to deal Carter to the Mavs. The Knicks can only get involved if the trade for Chicago's Jamal Crawford falls through, which is entirely possible.
Here's another story, though, saying VC would stay in Toronto if the Raptors' president, directory of player personnel & a consultant were all fired.

Seems like the Mavs keep going after small forwards. Hard to say if they'd be a contender with VC, though.

Carter is more of a SG than SF, he's a G-F, also the trade is retarded, the Raptors get Shandon Anderson, while New York gets Dampier and Walker, you can't lose Anderson to get those 2 guys, and the Raptors won't trade Carter unless they get a similar player to him, it's just more of New York thinking they can get every single player in the league.

Cuban on an offensive addictive.BUt it wont go down cuz the Raps wouldnt get nothin in return.VC just needs to stay and hope they come around and make the playoffs and he can show how good he is in the playoffs.

There's too many ballhogs in the Mavs lineup.

The Raptors will obviously get more back. That's just the gist of whatever rumor the writer, which apparently is nonexistant here, got. However, the NY Daily News likes to crank out rumors everyday.

I agree, but if he played for Dallas he would play SF, provided they still have Finley.
Wed Jul 14, 2004 1:57 pm
actually as of right now Marquis would be the SG and Finley the SF, this deal isn't happening, their's no one on there worth anything.
Even if the Raptors got Antoine Walker it would be garbage, horrible trade for the Raptors and GS, they get the least, but GS is doing a sign and trade so the aren't really losing.
Even if the Raptors got Walker, Dampier and Shandon, it's just useless contracts on our team, I'd never want Antoine.

I'd laugh my fucking ass off if Anderson is the "Big name" the raptors receive.
Dallas gets-
Kurt Thomas
Carter
Toronto gets
Shandon Anderson
Finley?
NY gets
Walker
Dampier
Golden State gets
nazi muhammad?
not sure if it works out money wise but it sounds close to fair does it?
but damn, no carter=less fans for the hockey town
if finley can't put on a show, who knows, maybe the team will be for sale, Jordan buys the team, and moves them to Las Vegas
then Minny, New Orleans and Memphis can fight to move east lol

My easier-said-than-done advice to the Mavericks would be to abandon the "fantastic on paper" formula and give a little more thought to defense. Dallas, Portland and Sacramento have all tried filling their rosters with talent in recent years with little or no success.

^^
As long as Antoine or Stackhouse don't ever find their way to the Raptors, I'm fine.
Thu Jul 15, 2004 2:53 am
lol no one has any love for Antoine

( i don't want him on the knicks either)

Now we know why Ainge traded him?
Oh wait, he has Reaf now...bummer?

Here's a couple new articles.

Fort Worth Star Telegram wrote:A three-team deal is being discussed, according to league sources, that would ship Toronto All-Star forward Vince Carter to the Mavs. The third team is possibly New York, with the Mavs sending Antoine Walker to the Knicks. New York could send a number of different combinations to the Raptors. Players thought to be in the mix are Shandon Anderson, Dikembe Mutombo and Kurt Thomas. Golden State has also been mentioned as a possible third team, with Erick Dampier as the main component.
Should the Mavs pull off the Carter trade, it seems likely other deals are on the horizon. The team remains in the hunt for a starting point guard and an upgrade at center. As a player in the last year of his contract, Walker is a valuable commodity for teams looking to cut payroll after the coming season. He's set to make $14.6 million this season. Carter would be a sizable financial undertaking with four years left on his contract for $58 million.

Here's another new one:
RAPTORS GENERAL manager Rob Babcock shot down a report suggesting Vince Carter could be on the move in a four-team deal. "There is no truth to it at all," Babcock said yesterday. "We've been getting inquiries about Vince and we're always discussing trades, but there is nothing really active going on. He is a crucial, and very valuable player, on this team and we are not actively trying to trade Vince

He's crucial to them especially for selling jerseys...etc.

vc should quit being a little bitch and stay in T.O and suck it up. he has the potential to be great and make T.O a serious contender but he chooses to take the easy way out and ask to be traded.. he should learn a thing or two from AI and KG

He can learn from KG but he shouldn't learn anything from AI
Thu Jul 15, 2004 7:52 am
he could.. remember when ai was going to get traded to the clips for beng a pain in the ass? well he got his act together and eventually became all star game mvp and lead his team to the finals.. im not saying ai is perfect but at least he made an effort to work on it.
