Nuggets Trade rights to Jameer

Postby Ruff Ryder on Fri Jun 25, 2004 11:46 am

The Nuggets trade the right to Jameer Nelson to Orlando for a future first round pick. Good trade for both teams.

I predict that Jameer Nelson will NOT wear a Magic jersey.

I sense that Houston had a hand in this, and are looking to get him in the McGrady deal to cover their hole at point. They could then go out and use their $7mil mid-level exception to shore up the front court, maybe moving Maurice Taylor as well and picking up a defensive/banging 4/5 backup.

Either that happens, or McGrady will NOT be a Rocket.

As a Houstonian, this makes me both very excited, and very nervous at the same time, because it's either looking REALLY good or REALLY bad...

Well, things just got even more interesting w/ the Magic selecting Antonio Burks.

It seems they'd be more willing to give up Burks in the McGrady trade, but on the other hand, the Rockets need a starting-caliber point guard and I can't see the Magic keeping Nelson just to play behind Francis.

Dammit I just want McGrady, I wish they'd stop teasing us!!!

This is a good trade for Orlando, as long as they dont give Jameer up to the damn rockets.

But like you said that is most likely going to happen which pisses me off because I think Nelson is going to be a very good player, eventually.

Damn it sucks though, McGrady is my boy, I can't believe he just wants to pack up on Orlando like that. THAT'S MY TEAM! But they only way I will be happy after this is done is if Francis stays in Orlando for a long time, like maybe for the rest of his career and McGrady, the first game he plays with Houston, snaps his leg off, otherwise, the Magic are getting screwed on this trade.

i think Magic fans are gearing up for "FIRE WEISBROD" chants...

EA Sports should add this to Live 05.... to make it realistic...

yeah Nelson could go to rockets...i mean Nelson will just give it up to Yao no questions asked.....i hope Magic dont give T-Mac away...why dont they trade the dickhead Gooden and the other fool Howard...Hill gets injured again they better make him retire !!!...

i really cant get the fact they ever trade Monkey Miller for that dumbass Gooden and Giricek.....Magic need a new GM ...Weisbrod is worse than Layden !!! :x

LONG LIVE MIKE MILLER

I hope Jameer is gonna kick some ass, i'd like it though if orlando just keeps its current roster, becuz if nelson isn't included in the possible deal to houston he would be stuck behind francis :? (unless stevie is gonna play SG, but ain't he too small for that?).
I'd like to see the orlando line-up three years from now, when howards is a monster an nelson the next iverson  (i have no clue whether his game resembles ivy's game or not, but i just see him as a scorer and a passer in an undersized body)

Good trade, one of a few things happen with this:

Jameer is packaged in the Houston deal and traded

Jameer stays and the Houston deal still goes down in which case he plays the point, and Francis plays the 2.

Jameer stays and the Houston deal still goes down, and he comes off the bench as the 2nd PG.

Good trade, Denver doesn't need him since they already have Andre and Earl. I'm looking for Jameer and Dwight to be the next Stockton and Malone/Marbury and Garnett.

I was upset that magic didn't draft okafor but I think Dwight has more upside.

Nelson= POTY in college...hopefully Magic aren't stupid to ship him with McGrady..we're already getting ripped off.. I believe weisbrod said he wont trade nelson after numerous calls from so many teams..

If anything I'd rather see Reece gaines traded...or better yet..Tyron Lue!

I thought Howard is a fine pick if they trade with Houston and get Cato in return. Otherwise, that still leaves them weak at center, as most deals I've seen don't include a center going back to the Magic.

Good points there. Both Burks and Nelson could go to Houston, as if Houston picks up just Nelson, then they still don't have a backup. That's giving up a lot though...I'm not sure if we should read too much into the Burks pick. He was the BPA IMO and my #1 sleeper so I wouldn't be surprised if the Magic took him to keep him and deal Lue/Gaines...to whoever wants garbage.

Yup Stevie , they could start Jameer and have Francis at the 2, but then where would Mobley be, he's not really a swingman, more of just a SG, but maybe he could play SF, small lineup though.

I think this was a good deal for Orlando and Denver, mainly Orlando, because that gave them Howard and Nelson, (plus the dude with the long curly hair, where his hat wouldn't fit. :? )
Anyway, with the Rockets deal posted and delivered, not only did the Magic screwed up by passing on Okafor, [a centre whom the Magic needed] but they're losing McGrady. But seriously... they passed on Okafor... a great centre who would've probably killed most centres in the East, with the exception of a few.

Nelson however, mixing with Francis and Mobley, might be something for the best, as in, he'll be able to learn from 2 who have played the game and learnt from others who were there teaching them. (Complicated... huh?)

In conclusion, a great trade by Denver, and maybe Orlando could get back to the playoffs?? [..or not!]

Well looks like my Jameer prediction was off, unless they still deal him. Maybe they'll ship Mobley for a small forward, and then move Steve to the 2.

PG - Jameer
SG - Steve
SF - (whoever they pick up)
PF - D. Gooden
C - Dwight

not too bad...?

lol Detroit would never do that.

You can bet your sweet buns that Dwight wont start at center. He has said it himself "I hate center. Who wants to stand in the middle and do nothing" or something like that.
He's more of a PF/SF, a post player who can play some perimeter.
Expect it to be more like
C- Kato
PF- D. Howard
SF- dunno... Stevenson? Garrity? whoever they trade mobley for? Dwight at sf with gooden at pf?
sg- francis/mobley
pg- nelson

They're trying to trade Kato and Mobley away too.

i don't see Stevie playing the 2 either

Stevie can play the 2. He did play quite a bit of it down the stretch last season after they brought in Mark Jackson. He's athletic enough to guard 2's (although vs some, not strong enough). I don't see Mobley at the 3...he just makes it out at the 2. He's rumored to be packing bags again soon.

If Mobley is traded, Francis will almost certainly start at 2 and Nelson at 1. Then Burks can back up Nelson and Francis can swing over from time to time. Bogans will most likely start at the 3, but possibly Stevenson...but here's my lineup anyways:

PG: Nelson/Burks/Francis
SG: Francis/Stevenson
SF: Bogans/Stevenson/(Grant?)/Johnson
PF: Howard/Gooden/Garrity
C: Cato/DeClerq

I think the Magic are willing to package Mobley for any talent right now. I'm not so sure the market for a player like Mobley is all that hot...so it looks like they're packaging Cato with him (he does have a bad contract though). Teams will flock to a defensive presence like Cato...but IMO they need to keep Cato otherwise they won't have a center again. It's all rumors though.
