history is repeating itself! the only team to win the 3 home games in between was detroit, the only player to be finals mvp and not an all star is joe dumars from detroit, and detroit ended a spurs-laker dominated era just like detroit ended the boston-la era in 89.

ben wallace was a monster last game, he IS the detroit pistons.

Joe D hadn't been an All-Star when he was named the MVP of the 1989 NBA Finals, but he was an All-Star the following season and a total of six times during the 90s.

To date, Cedric Maxwell is the only other Finals MVP who never made an All-Star team in his career, though Billups of course still has a chance to be selected as an All-Star before he retires.
