Raptors FINALLY Name General Manager

Sat Jun 05, 2004 1:42 pm

The Toronto Raptors have decided to hire Minnesota Timberwolves vice-president of player personnel Rob Babcock as their next general manager, Sports Illustrated reported on its website Friday night.

Joining Babcock in Toronto will be NBA Hall of Famer Wayne Embry as assistant GM and Alex English as the club's new director of player personnel, said the report, citing two unnamed league sources

It's nice to get some much-needed experience in place with Rob Babcock, Wayne Embry and Alex English leading the way. Hopefully they will have a head coach in place by the Draft and will decide who to protect and who to dangle in the expansion draft.[/quote]

I Hope this new GM,Rob Babcock can bring the success that brought Minny to the Western Finals....and i was pleasently surpised by the joining of Alex English..... I hope Rob Babcock can made the right deals and draft picks to help us get back to at least the second round of the playoffs..

I'm a bit surprised. I saw a lot of signs pointing to the Pistons' Hammonds. I knew Babcock was a candidate, just didn't feel he was a strong one.

Babcock has a pretty nice draft record as well, especially with Minny.
