I disagree with the NBA's ruling. Consider Greg Foster missing a free throw in the 1998 Western Conference Finals with the score close and only a few seconds remaining. The miss wasted time as the Lakers scrambled for the rebound, and were ultimately unable to catch the Jazz. It was pretty obvious the miss was deliberate - should it therefore not have counted as a free throw attempt?

Moses Malone was often said to miss shots intentionally so that he could grab more offensive rebounds, though Moses always denied those claims. Maybe the NBA should go back and review some of his games so that they can take away some of his offensive rebounds, if they're going to be pedantic about these things. :roll:
