Trade Deadline Central (1 Trade so far)

Mon Feb 16, 2004 6:39 am

http://www.tsn.ca/nba/news_story.asp?id=72351

The festivities start off with a bang.

Atlanta center Nazr Mohammed and Bucks forward Tim Thomas will go to New York and the Knicks will send Keith Van Horn to Milwaukee. Also, New York's Michael Doleac and Bucks center Joel Przybilla will head to Atlanta as part of the deal.

I recommend that this thread be turned into a "sticky" and further trades be posted here.

Looks like Atlanta is getting ready to bid for the Kobe auction. Hurray!

Mon Feb 16, 2004 7:09 am

Damn, zeke is lighting it up lately

Mon Feb 16, 2004 7:41 am

ESPN is already reporting it...

Thomas + Mohammed > Van Horn + Doleac --> Knicks win

Van Horn > Thomas --> Bucks win, though chemistry and cap are affected

Doleac + Przybilla < Mohammed --> Hawks lose, that's what they wanted anyway

Was Kurt Thomas also included? I thought it was just doleac and KVH sent from new york.. fuck, this is a bad trade for new york, they now have a shortage of pf's if thomas is gone

Mon Feb 16, 2004 8:50 am

Nope, Thomas stays, you can calm down now... :)

To recap what I posted in the other thread, this is a decent trade though the Knicks and Bucks didn't necessarily get better or worse by swapping Van Horn and Thomas. The Knicks probably got the best of the deal by replacing Michael Doleac with Nar Mohammed. Atlanta's rebuilding plan continues.

That's Tim Thomas who left Milwaukee for the Knicks.

considering that bird fired him and he basically made the Pacers and those match ups in the 80s, I think Isiah does have reason to get rid of any Bird look alike.

heard that the hawks might not be done wit trades next to go?

RASHEED WALLACE!

yes hes only been there for about 1 week yet has been rumored to go to the mavericks knicks and pistons

also...

from the toronto sun reports have been going round that the sonics are intrested in donyell marshall and mo peterson and the raptors would get brent barry and vladimir radmanovic obviously peterson wants to leave toronto he missed practice and said he would not pay his fine until after the deadline

so there u are any other rumors (but deadline happens 3pm thursday american time so i doubt yall get any time) please post

Thu Feb 19, 2004 11:29 pm

I can't believe it...

I hope Raptors don't trade Marshall... Is there a more underrated guy in the league? He's averaging nearly 18 pts, 11 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks per game since coming to Toronto... He also shoots well from deep and is relatively cheap (4.5 per)... Don't be dumb Raptors... Offer a package of Mo Pete and some contracts to Orlando and try to pry Howard from them... (N)

Edit: Rumors... http://www.hoopshype.com/rumors.htm

Detroit got the best of the deal, Atlanta continues to dismantle their previous rebuilding plan and clear cap space, and Boston traded away their starting point guard - as I said in the other thread, I was surprised to see that. Does anyone have any more information on that?

Deshawn Stevenson of Jazz to Magic for Gordan Giricek

Great move for the Jazz. (Y) Odd move for the Magic, though I guess it doesn't really matter given the season they're having.

Keon Clark and Ben Handlogten of Utah to Phoenix for Tom Gugliotta

Unless I'm missing something (by all means fill me in), this seems like a trade for the sake of making a trade. Googs might be able to do a decent job given the minutes in Utah, and his contract will apparently be up at the end of the season. Phoenix's acquisition of Clark is a pretty good move, though I would have thought they'd prefer to get the cap relief that Gugliotta's contract will provide when it expires.

Shammonfd Williams (Magic) to New Orleans for Sean Rooks

Uh...well, New Orleans could use an extra guard with David Wesley injured. I believe DeClercq is injured, so Orlando could use another big man. I guess the Hornets and Magic figured they might as well help each other out.
