o'brien was quietly one of the better coaches in the league. the celtics were crap before he arrived. the celts have made the playoffs with virtually no post game in his full years as the boston coach. they went to the east finals 2 years ago (pp's breakout year) and they upset a much more talented team in the pacers in the playoffs last year.
ever since o'brien took over, the GM has consistently got rid of important role players to the team- kenny anderson, rodney rogers, tony delk, then battie and williams. now the all the team has to show for those moves are 3 deadweights in raef, mills, and baker... a decent player in welsch and an enigma in the selfish davis.
i'm happy o'brien got out of this situation.
