Mark Jackson is the reason for Rockets recent sucesss

Postby 1CenT on Mon Jan 26, 2004 10:56 am

Man i'm watching the Magic's game and Yao is dominating .. he got the ball every posession except for like 4 in the 3rd quarter.

Mark Jackson is amazing.. Francis is nothing compare to him..
His passes to the post is perfect.. and he leads fastbreaks as good as any1 in the league .. if he had more speed and scoring...

Rockets and Yao's Recent sucesss came at Mark Jackson's arrival.. Mark's the man..

and i hope yao can reach 45ish tonite

Yep Steve francis is such a terrible player

Francis is one of the most overrated players in the league....he shoots a horrible percentage, turns the ball over four times a game and only dishes out 6 assists when he has one of the best big men in the league to pass to...I remember a stretch in the season where Brad Miller was averaging more assists per game (something like five or six games) than Francis...

Francis has never been much of a passing point gaurd. I think JVG has the right idea, run the offense through yao (similar to how sacramento runs it through their bigs) and just let stevie put the ball in the basket instead of having the responsability of setting up teamates. Remember vancover drafted him to play 2 guard alongside mike bibby.
Some overated stats:

Yep, Mark Jackson is better than this guy

Rockets are winning when francis passes the ball to Yao. Gotta give it to Yao he played great although its against the worst and shortest team on the league. If francis keeps feeding Yao the ball they might get far..

Yao was already doing pretty good before Jackson joined up....but I have to admit Jackson has a bigger impact than Francis....

Steve strives in a scoring game not passing...so either Houston trades him or no championship....unless Steve doesnt complain bout his bad games- cause Yao IS the FUTURE for the team....

yup. when u have to choose between a center and a guard, you GOTTA go with the center. although i love francis, he has to go somewhere else. his playing style doesnt fit well with houston. his exciting one-on-one plays during his first two years are now long gone.

If it does come to the point where Houston will need to trade Francis, I think they should wait and see if the Nets move to Brooklyn and if they do, will Jason Kidd demand to be traded...if he does,a Kidd for Francis trade sounds good.

Running the offence through Yao is a good idea but unlike the Kings.. Bibby, Jackson, Peja shoots a great %..
Jackson shoots well from 3s but his fg% isn't that great.. Mobley is streaky and Francis hmm i dunno.. he can shoot sometimes i guess.. no where near the efficiency of Bibby

He might be better than Mark Jackson, but he is grossly overrated. Isn't he one of the leaders in the West guards in votes yet again?

You thought all those 1-4 clearouts were exciting? That's basketball at it's worst. And it doesn't work, look at Houston then and Orlando now. Lousy.

I never said Mark Jackson was better than him...I said Francis was overrated and that he didn't distribute the ball...

5.8 assists per is distributing the ball.

I agree that he is overrated though

main reason he is overrated is because he can dunk pretty good for his size. If you ever notice, people who can put up highlights tend to be more popular.

There's Mark Jackson - the point guard and player we're talking about - and there's Marc Jackson - the player who disappeared after one good half-season with Golden State.
