Knicks Get Rasheed Wallace?

Postby benji on Thu Jan 08, 2004 7:26 am

Is Rasheed Wallace headed to the Knicks? Let's look at the evidence:
New York Post wrote:Blazer GM John Nash said he's had a handful of conversations with Knick boss Isiah Thomas, who's interested in power forward Rasheed Wallace.

"I hope it continues," Nash said.

The Blazers have definite interest in Kurt Thomas and former Portland high-school standout Michael Doleac. The Knicks would like to keep Thomas and put Van Horn in a deal, but he makes a maximum salary and is hard to deal, even though he could fit into the Blazers' strategy of getting in more character guys.

Thomas, Van Horn, Sweetney and Williams oddly MIA. Thomas + Van Horn = Rasheed salary wise.

Two roster slots opening up.

Thomas, Van Horn, Sweetney and Williams (who DNP-CDed for no clear reason last night) for Wallace and Patterson works under the salary cap.

Of course, it could just be a database error erasing the second half of the alphabet...

I like the trade... Let's see if it happens... I'd say the probability of 'Sheed exiting Portland is very likely, I'd say 90%... (Didn't know I'd come up with those kinda numbers, lol)

if this trade happens

C-Mutombo
PF-Wallace
SF-Houston
SG-Penny
PG-Marbury..

Isiah will be a genius...this team will look awsome on paper...

It'd be more like:

Mutombo
Wallace
Patterson
Houston
Marbury

with

Doleac
Harrington
Anderson
Penny
Moochie

from the bench...

Also... Everyone's talking about Rasheed goin' to NY... But what about Abdur-Rahim? What do you guys think? I think KVH and Thomas for Abdur-Rahim and some other guy could be in the works, too... Opinions?

god i feel bad for abdur rahim.. i've been following him ever since his days here in vancouver.. he works his ass off yet his team always gets nowhere.. i really hope he can find a team thats a playoff contender.. still a pretty underrated player, imo.

i have no sympathies for rahim. he's paid handosomely and he's healthy...he may put up some nice numbers but it hasn't made a difference on any of the teams he's been on.

Shareef - Modern day mitch richmond (y)
As for the proposed knicks deal, id rather kurt thomas + KVH for Sheed straight up, with no sweetney and frank williams involved. The Knicks have given up alot of draft picks, and these guys are the best young prospects the knicks have..
Imagine if new york took artest instead of weis now..

Scott Layden would probably still be GM and artest probably would of been traded knowing Layden.

well those players are back on the roster. After seeing the game tonight vs. Houston, I think there is a good chance Isiah will pull the trigger and bring Wallace to NY. Knicks are playing too soft, starting the game down 19-2 and totally got owned.

i was very disappointed with both games. this was just as terrible or maybe worse then the day i watched the game where jordan returned to chicago in a wiz uni and the bears losing to the eagles in the playoffs.

also i'm increasingly getting annoyed with the extra TV timeouts tnt games have. there is no flow to the game and it's the same commercials all the time. if it was some victoria's secret commercial, there'd be no complaints.

that trade would be pretty good. it looks good on paper but the thing is if they lose van horn and thomas, that loss combined with the loss of mcdyss in the marbury trade could be a factor, as their only big experience players are mutumbo and wallace and the knicks would be looking at the bench alot of the time which is very inexpierienced. so its kinda a good/bad trade!
