If Thomas plays tonight against Washington, Chaney will have to choose between the two players, which he's been putting off for a week. The most logical move would be to start McDyess. But last week Thomas said of a possible lineup switch: "It would be kinda strange with the numbers I'm putting up. ... I don't see myself coming off the bench.." Thomas is averaging 11.1 points, 9.8 rebounds and 34.7 minutes. ...

Looks like Kurt thinks he should start but it looks like every basketball fan out there wants to see McDyess instead tho =)
A lot of teams can use Kurt Thomas' production

start kurt thomas at center and send that 2 point/4 rebound in 34 minutes loser mutombo to the bench

mutombo has been decent for the knicks, they need his size in the starting line-up, they dont want to be undersized anymore, thats why they signed him. btw, he had 11 boards against the wiz tonight. and knicks won.

I would assume Thomas and McDyess would be able to split minutes at power forward while 'Dyess continues to get back into form. Thomas could also get plenty of minutes alongside 'Dyess, playing at centre while Mt Mutombo takes a seat.
No matter how they juggle it, Thomas should still be getting significant minutes. It's obvious what he can do given the opportunity.

You're crazy! Kurt Thomas is way to little to start as a Center! The guy is only 6-9, 235! That's to little, he can play as a bench Center, but Mutombo will and should start!
And who should start between McDyess and Kurt, I think McDyess.
Cause Knick have to try him out, see what he got if he plays as much as Kurt. judging by the stats he should easly get better stats than Kurt if he played 35minuts instead of 20minuts.

The guy is only 6-9, 235
charles barkley was 6-4 playing the power forward position
Kurt Thomas is way to little to start as a Center
well he has played the previous 2 season's as the knicks starting center so he has proven he can play the position. also at the conclusion of last season, kurt thomas was named the 8th best center in the NBA.

Kurt Thomas is a power forward. Not a center. He can play center at times, but center is not his position. He should not start at center. The Knicks started him at center for the last two years, and went 67-97. Dikemba Mutombo is a veteran who is currently averaging 6.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg, and 1.7 bpg. He is 7-3 and is a great shotblocker and rebounder. He has started every single game of his career except for last year when he was injured most of the season.
Kurt Thomas is a good power forward, however. Having both him and Mcdyess gives the Knicks a couple of the better big men in the Eastern conference. As far as starting, Mcdyess gets the start. He was a star in the NBA until he was injured. Kurt Thomas was never a star. Mcdyess, finally coming back, has to start.

Someone just put Mcdyess in the STARTING LINEUP already?!

Yeah, Don Cheney did the last two games.

who cares if thomas's position is not center...the reason he was there was because he played the position best out of everyone on the knicks team and this still is the case.
Dikemba Mutombo is a veteran who is currently averaging 6.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg, and 1.7 bpg
thanks for the heads up
He has started every single game of his career except for last year when he was injured most of the season
wow. this passage has just convinced me that mutombo should be the starting center......
He is 7-3 and is a great shotblocker and rebounder
no, no, and no
The Knicks started him at center for the last two years, and went 67-97
which is better than the knicks currently are with mutombo starting.
