The Lakers' scoring

I've noticed the Lakers' scoring has been pretty balanced in their first two games:

Mavericks @ Lakers
Lakers @ Suns

Only Shaq and GP are averaging 20 ppg (both are averaging an even 20). All five starters plus Derek Fisher are averaging double figures, though Kobe and the Mailman are getting less shots and therefore scoring less than they usually do. The averages of the four stars are fairly even, which is surprising. I figured Shaq and Kobe would average around 24 apiece, with GP and Malone both averaging between 12-15. It now seems they'll all average between 15 and 22 ppg, probably with at least one of them averaging 20+.

Kudos to the Lakers for sharing the ball as they've done so far. I'm wondering how long it will last though - I'm not sure Kobe or Shaq will enjoy scoring 18, 19 ppg since they usually combine to score almost 60 per game.

All i have to say is that it's cool to hear that the Lakers are shring the ball!
I mean...GP had 7 assists at 1st quarter time vs. Suns...I was hping he'd beat Stocks record for assists in a game...but he only recored 2-3 more for the last three quarters...damn!

And the Lakers looked like theyed score 120 against the Suns...i think they scored 95-97 something with 5-6 minutes left...and then Suns made a comeback...or something like that...

But once Kobe is healthy he'll top score again...i mean he was 4-12 from the field and scored...15 points? if he's healthy he'll prob take more shots (after playing more minutes) and score more too!

I say, congrats to the lakers for their TEMPORARY Team game!

all I can say is that this makes the Lakers unbelievably dangerous. This was the big test: sharing the ball, and they've done it so far. Triangle perhaps? I dunno I don't see the games
But yeah, they might still blow up. Kobe's still 'recovering' so who knows how long he'll be able to cope with being the lowest scorer of the 4 guys...

If you mean the most assists in a single game...Scott Skiles holds the record with 30.

That is alot of assists to get. If he had 7 a quarter, he still would not of broke it!

They are playing electrifying ball so far, I think they will be fine, they will all get used to their respective roles. But, I'll let their game do the talking.

Sloppy win for the Lakers, they gave to many balls away to Phoenix and gave them enough chances to shoot a three (ala season opener vs Dallas). I tought Kobe´s minutes would be more limited, but Imo he did a nice job, was looking more for passes then he used to do the last year so thats a good thing....He didnt play as explosive as he used to play because of the recovery from knee surgery, and his jab-stap slowed down aswell......Devean George played very very agressive and Imo he was the Player of the game with good hustle in the rebounds (12) and the defense. Derek Fisher also had a solid night from the bench with 13 points and 4 assists in 26 minutes...candidate for the 6th man of the year maybe?

I would like to see him walk away with that honors!

I don't see why Devean George is playing the most minutes out there. Yeah he's good, but hopefully, when Kobe's 100%, he'll be racking up more minutes. I'd think that George would be the most often subbed in-and-out.

Well, LA only has russell as a backup sf. And since kobes off-and-on, he gets to play some sg, with kareem rush.

Last night 4 lakers had double-doubles. Not bad... Kobe needs to work on som ft's with shaq.

This time Kobe led the Lakers with 21, while again the entire starting five scored in double figures, ranging from GP's 10 to Kobe's 21. I really wouldn't be surprised if they keep this up for most of the year.

This style of play is great to watch. The Lakers aren't looking for anyone particular on offence, they are just moving the ball and cutting to the basket. With two of the best passing big man they can exploit this all season. They have so many weapons and so many different ways of using them. They are also playing great team defence in most cases apart from a few brain explosions. If everyone can stick to their role I don't see anyone beating this team in a playoff series.

Like Kobe4MVP said, they are giving up alot of three's which was also the case in the last game, that's why the Suns came back.
