It's funny...I found this.
I read on Espn that when Shaq plays W/O Kobe his stats (no surprise are higher.)
With Kobe Without
PPG 27.6 30.4
RPG 11.8 12.8
FTA 10.7 13.2
This is normal...I guess...but what surprises me is that when Shaq is 'alone' he wins more games as compared to when playing with Bryant!
With Kobe Without
Win Pct. .692 .783
Without Bryant...thats nearly 80% winning and 64 games in a season as compared to 70% and 57 games...7 games difference in theory!
Wat are your thoughts?

Interesting, but where did you get all these stats?

I'd like to see the stats of "Lakers with Kobe" and "Lakers without Kobe." Then I'll make my judgement.

The games missed by Kobe are not even comparable with the total of games they've played together so it's not a good way to compare things there.
Why? It's not the same to say: Shaq without Kobe (23-9) & With Kobe (296-200) The differential of games is too big to make it comparable.
Same thing for percentage, if Shaq played just one game without Kobe & the team won, means he has 1.000 percentage without Kobe, but when playing multiple games with Kobe, we all know they will lose some, so the winning percentage will tell you "in some erroneous way" the team (Shaq) is better without Kobe.
P.S.
Your options in the poll are not related with your post, so I don't see any reason to vote. IMO Shaq is better than Kobe but that's not what you are trying to find out in other people's opinions as you already explained in the post. It really was about why the Lakers having Shaq have better percentage when Kobe doesn't play than whenever he plays IMO. Notice also that it might be possible when Kobe misses his games, the schedule is not that tight for the Lakers to lose a huge quantity of games.

I don't thinks its important if Shaq gets better stats or not, with or without Kobe. Kobe's importance to the Lakers is undeniable, so even if Shaq and the Lakers were to play a full season without Kobe, and Shaq were to put up MVP stats, I guarantee you that the Lakers won't have as good of record as they would with Kobe. Simple as that...

C'mon...don't rag me bout this post! lol
I just found this very interesting...so much for being a dumb-ass!
BTW...I found it on espn.com somewhere on the site...

I think you'd find Kobe's stats are somewhat better playing without Shaq. I don't have any exact figures to quote, but consider the beginning of last season when Kobe was racking up triple doubles. Without Shaq, Kobe is bound to get more boards, and definitely in position to score more points.
It would be interesting to compare the Lakers' record with Shaq and without Kobe to their record with Kobe and without Shaq. I still believe Shaq is more valuable to the Lakers, even though Kobe is superior in terms of talent.

I think some of those stats may be a bit misleading because before Phil came to LA, Kobe was mostly a bench player and the Lakers had a lot of other talented players like Eddie Jones and Nick Van Exel. That's why I'd like to know where the stats come from. Same thing with Andrew's question, Kobe's stats without Shaq are a bit low because from 96-98, Shaq missed quite a few games but Kobe was still just a bench player.
