With the #1 pick of the 2004 NBA Draft the Milwaukee Bucks select..

heh, in other words, they on the way to the worst record this year.

:) , rebuilding is okay, but this is exagerating, tim thomas aint gonna lead them to the playoffs  , ford will be solid i think, redd is a greath sixth man and mason has some talent, i know the east is weak but i dont c them gettin the eight seed or something, but maybe they will surprise(gadzuric becomes a beast in the east :) ?)

The Bucks wont be horrible but they aren't going to be making a trip to the playoffs. The strengthened their frontcourt and opened up room in the backcourt for the young guys(not really by choice). If Smith can get back to his rookie form(Big if) and Thomas steps up to be the leader(Also a big if) they could have a half decent season.
I think the should start
C- Gadzuric
PF- Smith
SF- Thomas
SG- Redd
PG- Ford

How quickly a team can go from the Eastern Conference Finals to a state of rebuilding. Karl's firing was inevitable - his reputation was damaged by the loss in the World Championships and the Bucks haven't been able to return to the form that made them one of the East's top teams back in 2001.

Even though anything is possible in the East, I don't see the Bucks returning to the playoffs this year. The dismantling of the Bucks has created an opportunity for some of the other Eastern teams who are on the verge of making the postseason as the 7th or 8th seed.

I see an oportunity time for this Bucks team. They could make noise in the East at least... They could get very well together... Ford is supposed to be glue that sticks everything together... I'd still vote for no playoffs appearances for them, but I wouldn't be surprised if they get the 6th seed or something... I don't see big troublemakers in the team...

IMHO:

C - Gadzuric
PF - Smith
SF - Thomas
SG - Mason
PG - Ford

With the other Mason, Redd (best 6th man in the game)... That's a passable core for me.

Smith could average at least 12 and 7... In the East, that's fair. Thomas could average at least 14 and 5 and 3... If he blows up, he could average something like 20, 8 and 4... He HAS potencial IMO, just needs the right environment... Mason... this guy is something special. He could average at least 14 and 6... Maybe 20 and 6 and 3 if he has a breakout season... Redd... He SHOULD average at least 16 this year... and about 180 treys. And last, TJ Ford... Are you guys checking the boxscores amongst the summer leagues? Ford is getting pretty good rebound numbers... and high assists numbers too... I see him averaging at least 10 points, 3 boards and 7 assists... perhaps even better...

That's all... (Y)

The only reason I put Redd in the starting lineup was to give them a pure shooter, which they need now that Payton, Cassell and Allen aren't around anymore. Thomas can shoot, but not with great consistency. I think Redd can make an even bigger contribution if he got the opportunity.

They also could move smith to c in the east and their lineup would look like this then:
C - Smith
PF - Thomas
SF - Mason
SG - Redd
PG - Ford

I kinda like that lineup, but i dont know if that lineup will work better than the other, redd just should get a lot of minutes(which not equals starting), though i'd like to see what gadzuric can do, he impressed me in the SL(ford did also), and they could become the "second pistons team", it's all about chemistry

I think some former Bucks couldnt handle Karl at times, but Karl emphasizes toughness but sometimes it doesnt work. Yes, it would be a good lineup and maybe a young coach would fit this young team. I think it's time for Des and Redd to step up big time for this team.

The Sam Cassell trade was a bad one, definitely after Payton decided to go to the Lakers.
